View Full Version : How do I target???

I recently decided to change my torpedo targeting to manual, once I figured how to do it.
But unlike the targeting described in the manual, my game does not give me the option to pick which area of a ship to target on! :damn:
(ie. fuel bunker, ammunition storage and engine room)

Can anyone help me on this?

By the way, since I'm new, does anyone know how to change that stupid picture that appears next to your name? Or is that controlled by rank?

Manual targeting, this function is turned off. You can still use the data on the ship to help pinpoint shots. But you just need to do it manually is all. How I do it is lock the target, and count the number of seconds it takes to go from 1 degree to the next. For example we'll say 2 seconds. If you need to hit in front of the lock point . Release and fire before you get to 0 degrees. If it is shot towards the stern of the ship. Once you get to 0 degrees unlock and start counting. If you need a shot that is 2 degress off then do a count of 4 and fire. Of coarse the amount of time depends on speed of the target.

There may be other ways to do this but this way works well for me. Just takes practice is all. I play with auto turned off and help from WO. Not true manual targeting, semi manual I guess.
I'm sure others will chime in with their way of doing it. Hope that answered your question.

SO then,
What settings do need to be set to target a certain room on a ship?

Easy... just don't use the "lock the periscope" feature and then you can freely point it at any part of the ship that you want to hit... mind you, for this to work, your firing solution must be super acurate!.

I believe, if you make a small donation to the subcom.com website, it can be arranged to change your picture. Check with Neal about this.

What I ment was on the identification manual.
There is a setting on which you can find the ship you're targeting, and click on a room to target. I just don't know what settings to use. All I know is that you can do it in the naval academy.
