It seems almost impossable to survive a patrol now, I know things were bad but this is unrealistic!
I am on the surface & it's a clear day then all of a sudden there are 3 or 4 planes overhead dropping DC's on me! :x not so bad if I play at 1x but certainly if >32x there is no warning the map shows nothing there, but I'm being attacked! my crew must be blind & so much for radar!! :-?
Is there a mod to fix this?
Many thanks.

Im going to assume you have the FuMo29.
This radar only covers a limited field to the front of the uboat. If you want to do a sweep, you have to steer the boat in a circle. (the next radar version doesnt have this limitation)

Are you submerged by day and surfacing only at night to recharge batteries?
And Metox radar warning reciever, do you have it yet?

Admitidly the range on them stock is really short.

But to answer your question, yes their are mods to fix this. I can't name one right now, but try looking in the sticky or uboat.realsimluation.com .

Yes I am in a IX & FuMo29 is the only radar option so far, I have sonar too but that option seems to be dead, can't click on any icons, even when submurged? :-?
The real problem is when trying to get anywhere, even at night, if greater than 32x planes still appear sometimes, but always out of the blue, overhead, dropping DC's & the map shows nothing there :88) , once they have already dropped there load & almost sunk me then the map shows them!! :x
It's this that I would like to see a fix, if you find one please let me know.
Many Thanks.

Try the following link and look for something called Radar_Detection in the SH3 Downloads

I'm not in 42 yet, haven't got much time latelly to play, but the subs radar is far less sensitive than the allies, if you turn it on it acts like a beacon to enemy planes and ships, as I understood the only surface sensor that is usefull is the RWR.
