View Full Version : Generic Mod Enabler not working properly!

While in port I used the JSGME to install the extracted file BlueNightMap which was extracted in the MOD folder. The bluenightmap was NOT installed even though I used JSGME. Why not? I have other mods I wish to install each time I come to port and if JSGME isn't doing it properly, why? How do I go about making it do the installation of the mod properly? I don't want to get into installing manually because a lot of mods do not give details about where to install. So, what should I do. I notice that when a mod is extracted in the MOD folder, a duplicate folder is created in the c:/P F/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter III root directory, why? I need answers about why the JSGME isn't doing the extractions and installations properly. :-j Robert.

Hi Robert,
I don't know whether I can be much help, and forgive me if I stating pretty basic stuff here. The simple fact is that the mod enabler, which I use in several other games as well as SH3, never gives me any trouble at all.
The only time I have problems is because of 'user error'. Following that theory, check out the add-on folders in the mod folder itself to enusre that you have the correct locations for each - sometimes, especially when using installers, a 'parent' folder is installed containing the mod, and obviously this means that the sub folders will not be installed in the correct location. This still happens to me sometimes if I'm not careful.
I have never seen duplicate folders in the root. The enabler creates backups of the replaced files in every case, but these should be within the target folder for each particular mod.
Hope this helps.

Hey Clive, at the risk of thread highjacking, can you list what other games you use it successfully with? I get asked questions from users of a whole swag of games that I've never played and so am never sure whether it works with them or not!
Sorry Robert, back to your question...
Have you gone through the pictorial step-by-step JSGME instruction manual located at http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/857101043/m/3031058373

"Hoy batwings, Batman" Now what do I do, everything is in the c:\PF\ubisoft\silent hunter III folder. :damn: I done so many patrols I really don't want to start over again. It takes me a long time to play the games because of my incurable diseases, difficult to understand things sometimes. I am in a patrol at the moment. So you don't get duplicate folders? Where are you supposed to put JSGME to begin with. I followed the printed diagram and started there. :-? I am using an XP SP2. I will print out all those instructions and see what you or rather I should do. The only thing I have in "my documents folder" is the SH3 saved games, like my career. I've had so many crashes prior to now, that I had to do a fresh install, :/\chop . I am not very happy about this. :hulk:

You can back up the saved carreer folder at the documents directory and , write on a paper the mods you've got installed,
then uninstall everything install again and install JSGME at the end, put back the saved games folder where they bellong and thats it...
Be sure to enable all the mods you've got currently installed and you should have no problems , i've done that one time bro...

It's like this, if you back up your Carreer folder bro, and after uninstall everything and that means SH III also, cause from what i understood you've got the Mods installed allover Silent Hunter directory, so if you reinstall a clean SH III and then install the Mods you add before again with the Reinstalled also JSGME, and then add to the previouse place the Carreer folder again you will be able to follow your game where you previouselly ended...
Keep in mind that you've got to add the exactelly same mods you add before...

I sure hope I am doing this right as it is really confusing me. I am putting the downloads into the folder which he had me create in MY DOCUMENTS/Received Files/SH3 Downloads. Then I an unzipping them in the Zip file he told me to create, then I am copying the folder to the SIlent Hunter MOD folder and then running JSGME. Sheesh. Seems like a lot of work. This better work or I am not going to be pleased.
