Ok, first off, please don't tell me this mod won't work on a 98 machine.

Problem is. just after the words "not so long ago" the game crashes to desktop. No reason given.

This happens with both Single missions, and with a fresh carreer.

Nothing remains of my old install, this was done over a fresh install, with the 1.4b patch. ( though the patch when installing says it is updating sh3 to sh3 1.3, which I have heard is actually correct for the 1.4b patch.

What the heck is going on? Anyone else have this problem?

Did you delete the SH3 folder from your "My Documents" folder after you removed SH3 before your fresh install? Save carreers will not (well, I should say will not, but probably won't) work with the GW mod.

Check your registry for errors also. I have found a few related to SH3 in the past that caused crashes.

I had to remove the starforce drivers also.

I've just installed the mod, but I also get CTDs. Maybe is because my PC, 512 RAM, AMD 1600XP.

First thing to do monday morning, get more RAM !

I have found the problem on my installation, it was a corrupt file in the crew folder. The sim is now working, excepting the fact the clock is increadibly loud, and the blow tanks is immensly silent.

You can find a fix for the clock sound at Terrapin's website in either of the GW servers. ;)

It is simply:Run SH3 configuration manager...in field system required it will say NO if u have win 98 and u will get gren Go on if u have XP...end of story!

Actually my config util for shIII has nothing about windows XP. The only issues it has is my system memory (512k) and processor speed (just below requirements) Now, game shadow will not install due to my having win 98.

Why install game shadow I never installed that bit of software and I doubt if its irrelevent to the game if your after updates you will can get them easliy from other sites I never installed it from day 1 when I got sh3 personally i would not even bother installing it.

Exactly... I imagine that in the end Game-Shadow will eventually lead to more spyware introduced to your PC anyway. :ping:
