View Full Version : GW crash to dekstop
I have installed a clean SH3 and added the 1.4b patch.
Enabled GW using the Jonesoft tool.
When I start the game it crashed during the load screen.
If I disable GW it doesnt.
Any ideas.
I unpacked the 6 files into seperate folder and then merged them all into one.
Did I do anything wrong there?
Where did youve downloaded GW mod?
Did you've Had the folder merging correctly, cause some of us forgot some folders during that merging...
I think the chances are that if you've done the above things correctly it hapend to you as to me a corrupted GW Download ...
If it is that, you'll have to download it again mate!
Don't trouble yoursellf , I've download it 3 times until get it right!
Did you merge them in the proper order 1-6 overwriting the files as you went?

I forgot to add the last data file and I got the same CTD....
I know it might sound silly, but try the process again right from the start, just to be sure you did not screw up anything. That's what I did and it worked!
Just in case, I did not add the documentation folder to the mod folder either (the one that comes in the second zip file)
Good luck.

The way I did it was D/Loaded it to a folder copied it to a Dvd (i did a uncomress to a folder or you choice and then copied it before I draged and dropedobviously it did ask do you want to overwrite the existing file if your happy to do it go ahead,it worked for me so I can't see it failing for anyone else. it's either that or do as the read me says depends how comfortable you are with SH3 files.
Hi, I downloaded Grey Wolves from ftp://snakech.kicks-ass.org/Grey%20Wolves like two days ago and i recive same CTD as McBeck. I unpacked GW parts from 1 to 6 to one folder in right order and then copy/paste into Silent Hunter 3 directory. The game loads with GW, i see the menu, i choose a single mission for example and loading screen appears but then i see a sing "Not so long time ago" and game crashes.

basicly for a ctd after a mod add:
1.) if this happend with a new started career, u'll prolly did an incorrect installation. ( happens when files are missing e.g. like ships/ *dat's)
2.) u tried to load a save game, which was saved during a mission and not in habour.

Salute! McBeck.
Make sure you delete, move, or re-name your "SH3" folder that is generated in your personal documents.
Then run GW again. A new SH3 folder will be made in your "My Documents" that will format itself to run correctly with GW.
Cheers!

That shouldnt be neccesary since its a totally clean installation. No SH3 folder in My Documents before I started.
Ill try and download again:(

BTW, I downloaded the revised Basic.cfg, but even with that, it seems that, for me anyhow, the 24-hour Fatigue Model is still 8 hours. I'll just wait a couple of weeks, until we get the "Super-MOD" headed our way, and use the NYGM Fatigue Model...

I did a fresh install again because i want to have
2 installs. (1 orig. and 1 with the gw mod)
The orig runned fine and with the 2nd one i got ctd`s.
So i downloaded the gw again and installed it manually.
Now it runs fine.
