Thought I'd show you what I've been up to the last week or so,
I've been make some crew skins used a number of books, pics, some issues of signal which I have and the film Das boot as most of
you no uboat crews wore a wide range of kit heres some pics

the arms ect, I've made a high res file but it shows as low res.

What resolution are those screenshots in? They look far better than anything I've ever seen on my crappy little computer.

WOW. Fubar has outdone himself!
EDIT: Looks like he got flannel shirts to work without the rank/decorations showing. I dunno if the "das boot cloths" mod ever succeded in eleminating that for casual wear, but it appears fubar has! :rock:

Wohoo i have your Uboat skins as well, what a great skin modder! That crew looks awesome!!! K&K Crew Textures are good too, is there a way to keep the actual models and change the clothes like u did?

I like K@K Crew textures, that are very good as well but it seems these here have somehow broader selection, Das Boot and not Das Boot :)

Hi all
These skins are going to take longer than I thought to complete,
I'm going to make a higher res set of skins and a lower set for low
end machines the higher res are much more detailed but the files
will be bigger.
Salvadoreno: yes it is possible to have a mix of skins like my pics
I'l wright how you do this in the read me that will come with these
skins.
I'm going away at the weekend so I'l speak soon.

Just one thing about high res. I have tried a few mods that actually look too good for the game! Meaning they don't match the rest of the graphics ( sub interior etc...).
So making a high res/Normal res is a great idea.

Ok guys I've done them
There been a few additions and a few changes, I'm only going to
upload the lower res skins as I remade my photoshop files very
high res then made the tga files smaller and got the result I was
looking for, texture on shirts, combat jackets ect.
There still higher res than the stock game, theres 8x crew skins and
8x officer skins, If you want a mix of crew skins your need to edit
the crew config files (Instructions how to do this are in the readme)

One small criticism though - white cap = captain. The other officers should not wear that :hmm:
CCIP I do understand your point however I allways preferd also the white Cap, even knowing it's for Capt. and not for Second Officers on board the sub...
Thought this navy blue version from him it's brilliante job, and if there was a way to keep both of them on the officers crew members at the same time it woulçd be great...

Amazing skin good work Fubar.
CCIP This white cap issue is a pisser I did try to get the game to run two caps one white one blue but it would not work however
what you can do is edit the crew config file so three of the four
officers dont where hats its not ideal but atleast that way you only
see one white hat or just use the blue cap sorry mate.

Great job fubar, top notch as always.
As for the white cap, yeah its for the captain normally, but i find it odd theres not one white cap to be seen anywhere on the boat, not even by the captains bed. Having at least one officer with a white cap seems like it changes the perspective from 1st person, to 3rd person. *shrug* i see no problem with that personnaly.

Sorry FuBar, you say on the readme that there is no need to edit the Officers ( Main 4) but if we whant them to have a specific uniform we can edit yes?

jcwolf I think the officers are all ready set to use the four officer skins already but if you want to edit there profile you can but dont
forget there are only four skins in the officers folder so dont put a number higher than 3 for the officers, If you do put a number higher than 3 the game will not load. In the officers folder there are four skins and theres also four officer skins in the additions
folder.

Ok , It works but not the way i whanted, first, i have to explain you what i've done:
- I'm using the Crew Config files that come with the GW, since in mi knowlige, when you eneble a Mod That brings This files they will overwrite the Crew C.F. from the stok game...
Second i've done exactly the way but made an alteration on a Officers name since there was 4 of them and one it wasn't on mi game,so i edited his name for the proper one.
Third in both times, and after following the instroctions you gave
me, when the game restars it seems to me that still picks the skins randomly...and not the way i've asigned them, and the same to the Has_Hates....
Can you bring me some light into this bro, cause do no what i'm doing rong ... :rock:

Ok, i had to edit one of the Officers names cause you tell on your readme file to pick the 4 main officers, in mi sub a tipe VIIB i've got five officers, cause i enlisted one for the Engine room, so ...
...I started the game as you say, took writed on a paper the 4 main officers names and the 5th. one also just in case later i could find a way of editing him also, got of the game, and picked the Crew Config from the GW Mod, on that config, i saw the names for 3 officers and looked for the 4th one and didn't had it, insted there was an officer that i don't had in mi game and never heard of, so i edited that one for the correct 4th officer that was missing on the Crew C. , and edited correctly the rest of the crew members, giving to the officers uniforms from 0 to 3 and the rest acording mi taste from 0 to 7....and insted pasting the 12 named config acording your instructions i made a folder and named it Cfg and drag it to your skins folder , so that this way i could install it with the JSGME...
And this is the best i can explain it bro... :rock:
Kind of strange i think cause mainly the officers i selected for the 4 of them the Number 3 (Top left number in the pick) uniform the one with brown jacket and black pants,and the game allways picked the all blue uniform that i think it's number 1 or 2 , so don't know what is rong, also you give 8 uniforms for the rest of the crew members
numberd from 0 to 7, i selected to the seeman the first 4 uniforms from 0 to 3, and for the petty Off. from 4 to 7, and everything loaded as the game whanted , nothing acording what i've chosen! :rock:
I'm so sorry about beeing creating this all mess bro, but since the skins are so cool and great, i'm just curious why they don't install the proper way!!?? :rock: :up:

Yes to everything Fubar, when i activat the skins Mod woth mi Cfg folder inside your Skins data folder, JSGME asks to overwrite the Basic files and the skins file...

As you can see just some match mi real subs officers, and this Cfg file is not edited yet...I even have sailors without names... :rock:

Think I know why your names are different from what you have when you play the game, as you are useing a type VIIB SUB in your game look at the crew config VII files inside
silentHunter/data/Cfg (not the ones inside GWmod) I think your
find they are different to the ones inside the GW mod. There are three crew config VII, one or all should be the same as what you get when you play the game If this is the case then copie the correct file to your desk top then follow my insturctions in the readme.
Also ignore my sample config file in the read me its wrong

Note to GW users... There will be an adapted version in the upcoming GW update that will include Fubar's new crew skins without the need for the player to manually edit them.
Hopefully it will make the lives of those interested in using both mods easier.

ok, i think i found the problem, something is fault with this file "Rank_Deco_ND.tga", i replace this file with the one from Totenkopf's skinpackage and everything working i guess.

thats an good idea, please report the result.
Just the same, :( I then put back the "Sub Crew Version 3" by Totenkopf, and crew now showing Medals again. :up:

Medals not showing is not a bug, it's feature. I think Fubar left them out because they simply didn't wear them while on patrol.
If you want them just replace Rank_Deco_ND.tga in data\Crew\Body\Body01 folder with file that has them.

Hi all yes Sturm is correct I left the medals out because they didn't
wear them on patrol, so if you want medals take out my
Rank_Deco_ND.tga file and then your game should use the default
medal file.
Also the medal file in the additions folder is for the skins with checkerd shirts ect (this file has no shoulder insignia).

From what i've seen the white hat comes separated on a individual folder simplly before enable that folder erase the hat file...Or don't enable the folder thats what i've done and my crew is using the normal navy blue cap...

Well, that's what I thought. But a few pages back...
Yes the white hat is a option. If you do want just one officer to have the white hat, the only option is to remove the other officers hat. I like to have the watch officer to have the white hat as I pretend that is me on the tower. To do that, I change all the other officers entry in the crew cfg files from HasHelmet=Yes to HasHelmet=No. I then replace the blue hat tga file with the white one.

I have to agree. I'm sure this wasn't Fubar's intent though.
Other elements are better than they ever have been such as the overall uniform designs that work to hide the faulty 3D model that seems to be based on modern clothing styles.

I'm using the plaid shirt crew skins now, but it gave me 3 officers with the same body and red shirt. How can I select or edit for each of the 4 officers to have one of the 4 different bodies? I was surprised that body selection seemed random--why have multiple same bodies when each could have his own? It seems that one could start a career and get all 4 officers with the same body.

I went back to uniforms from the flannels, but the shoulder boards are not showing on the uniforms? I have the correct Rank_Deco_ND.tga with shoulder boards on it. Is there another file that needs to be changed to get the shoulder boards to show up?
Oh, even though there are 4 officer bodies/uniforms, only 2 of them seem to be used (it varies which 2). I always get 3 of one type and only one different.

OK,
I read the instructions carefully and figured out there are 2 files to modify. I located my officers by their names in the 2 different crew_config_*.cfg and made sure each had a different index number at BodyTgaIdx=*. Of course, there are really 5 officers and only 4 bodies, so 2 will always have the same body, but you can make one with a cap and one without. The two files I altered are:
My Documents/SH3/data/cfg/careers/*[savedname]/*[savedgame]/crew_config_*.cfg
and
Program Files/ubisoft/silenthunterIII/data/cfg/crew_config_*[type]_*[number].cfg
I'm still working on figuring out the shoulder boards not showing up.

The result of the installation like in the readme don't work for all the crews of my career.
In fact :
When I look at the 12 crew_config_xxx_x files of the Silent Hunter\Data\cfg folder, I don't find the crews of my career (I find others crews and crews without names). But I find my crews in the career folder of My documents.
If I give different skins to all the crews of the 12 crew_config_xxx_x files of the Silent Hunter\Data\cfg folder, like in the redame of this mod, there are of course no changes for the crews of my career. I fact only some changes are presents.
How install the skins to make changes effectives for my crews ?
NB : I use NYGM2.2 mod

Bear with me as I am uncertain of your probelm as I have not downloaded Fubar's file as my version was sent to me ready to go with no readme and the directory structure in place.
Essentially the TGA & DAT files for Fubar's Crew Skins are to do into the directory 'crew' under C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\
When Installed into the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Crew directory the game will automatically use them.
I am probably way off the mark here but...

I think I've found the problem.
In fact, I've installed the mod and made the modifications at the crew_config_xxx_x files of the Silent Hunter\Data\cfg folder before to create a new career.

I noticed the watch crew dont wear rain gear anymore in a storm, is this a drawback of this mod? They do look damn good though. Also will the clothing change on there own before each patrol or career because as of now I have no plaid shirts or sweaters just everyone in the Armani uniforms.

My watch crew finaly put on the rain gear during a storm, I guess that got tired of getting wet. And I must say the rain gear looks much better then the stock version, great job fubar :up: .
I've corrected the problem with the hands on these skins and made a few minor changes, also I have included Anvarts head fix which corrects the triangles on the back of heads and his hands look better mod so thanks goes out to him for these great fixes.

I have one petty officer that looks like he spent to long in the diesel engine rooms:lol: he has his face all stained in black, i didint follow the part of the readme that instructed to edit the crew files in order to take maximum advantage of the skins, i only installed normaly trough JSGME, is that guys face normal?
