Can that be solved somehow?...when approaching the surface, the stern is higher than the bow and the Towed Array is cut by the propeller. Very very annoying, indeed... :damn:

This is actual bug of 1.03 version. It's called 'drunken planesman syndrome'. There is no info if it is worked on but we all hope so.

You know, as much as I've tried, I can't reproduce this. :88)

I'm sure the first MP dive I do, I'll reproduce it just fine... :dead: :damn: :-j

I guess I would just retract it if I was going to do any radical climbing... I know most people probably won't like this solution, but I am constantly rerigging the TA when I maneover, so this is not too big of an adjustment for me. ;)

Do depth changes of only 15-30 m at a time. ;)

To reproduce it or to avoid reproducing it? :hmm: :)

I don't play akula much, but if you want wild ride, go at 10kts and do large depth change .. 100m to PD.

This is what me and Goldorak do (we always play multistation...the bloody italians) but one out of ten you forget about it :damn: . But it's Goldorak who's manning the Ship Control room so it's his fault, I guess... ;)

I wonder if the Akula TA actually would get cut with a big depth change... I've always wondered about the placement of the TA's on russian submarines... it's not unfathomable for a TA to break if it got caught in the wash of the prop... I have heard their TA's are rather brittle, especially in cold water.

Of course, not that this has anything to do with what is occuring in the game mechanically, but I wouldn't be surprised if more than one russian skipper has gone home without a TA because his planesmen were a little rough on the controls... :hmm:

So, I guess the lesson here is, if you want to keep your TA on the Akula, either retract it, or go easy maa'n... :|\

No other choice than the first option, I'm afraid...

I have found that if you maneover smartly, you can minimize the time the TA is both not useful for bearings because you are turning or is retracted to some unusable length, by making those times one and the same.

In most of my games, I have had more than enough time to take up to 3 minutes or more with my TA not useable because I am turning or making a depth change or speed change, or usually all three... usually because I do my tracking and searching in set intervals taking into account manovering time.

In situations where you must maintain constant TA awareness, usually a last minute maneover is on my mind only after what the TA can tell me is not useful, like a final turn before an attack and then a sprint along a set bearing and depth. At that point, I have my solution and I know what I am doing, accounting for the fact that my opponent is going to do something as well.

And I guess if you are making hard manovering, than I don't find it too hard to deal with that the russian array is more prone to breaking, because, in fact, it is. :know: :)

the TA breaking in Akulas is a well known bug.

It's related to the subs not rising correctly.

Yup, that's about the long and the short of it. :)

Ok, so do you guys want me to move it under the prop... the graphic would be off, but the TA would not break, at least not as much...?

So... I'll start a poll. :yep:
