Does anyone else get a stuttering on the Navmap screen when you TC near a convoy, or any ship for that matter.

Scenerio:

You're chugging along the North Atlantic at about 512TC. All of a sudden your mouse starts stuttering, the TC clock starts updating slower, and there's an audible diff in the engines.

This usually happens when I get near an unidentiified convoy or ships. Kinda kills the element of surprise for me, as I know there are boats in the vicinity.

I've got a pretty good system, A64 3200, 7800GT, 1gig ram, etc... was wondering if anyone figured out how to get rid of it.

thanks

That is totally normal and not much you can do about it.

I am using the 1500m Nav Icon for the sub, which comes in at just over 11 megs for that file .... so when you zoom in close, just keep in mind while the graphic looks thin and fragile....it's really just a pig ;)

bit of a giveaway if you ask me I thought somebody would have fixed it by now.

Happen to me all the time. Yeah, kind of killing the elements of surprise.

i hate it too but what can ya do?

theres no way around it that i can think of as its the game loading the objects...someone at ubisoft should have thought about it and made them load over time at a greater distance rather than all at once.

it does ruin it but it's not always a convoy just usually

Unless a contact/radio report is given, I pretend the stutter never happened and continue on my merry way.

Yeah I agree that is does somewhat ruin the element of surprise but like zzsteven my way of dealing with this is to ignore it unless I get a contact report. Not the best option but the only one available, a bit sloppy on the Dev's part, surely as vodkaphile suggested, they could have staggered the object loading and avoided this issue completely.

Usually I ignore it as well. - I rely on contacts AND hydrophone.

I beat you by about 5 fps :rotfl:

PIII 866 mhz, 512 mb Ram.
Advice, if you are using onboard audio buy an audio card, last week bought an audigy card and my fps increased by 25%

Ouch, ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one, though I wish I were. Guess I'll just have to ignore, and maybe kick my bridge crew in the butt, they need to be spotting those targets.

thanks for the responses
