hello,

i tried to install this, to get more variety in ships during the game. But when i did, the game hangs when loading. Is this a common problem?

are you using a mod enabler? What other mods do you have installed?

Harbour Traffic 1.47 includes this, or something like it. Both in harbor and at sea I see all different kinds of merchant liveries.

Wasn't it SHCmdr?

I was going to say Commander originally, but for some reason it just didn't sound right. I'm not sure SHIII Commander has graphics mods like that.

Anyway, one of those (or RUB) is definitely it!

hhmmm, tried it again today, and it doesn´t hang anymore. Now i only have to see, if i get more different ships now.

I sometimes see German tankers with 'Esso' and 'Sinclair' on the funnels.

I am reasonably sure they came with SH3 Commander, and not Harbor Traffic. Is it working now, Xsi-Roy?

I keep asking myself if it would be worth it to have identical merchant ship models cloned to allow for correct paint schemes. It's entirely possible, but it requires an entirely new ship model per nationality. This would cause the file size for the merchant ship mod to balloon-maybe to over 100MB. The Germans *did* disguise some of their cargo ships as vessels from neutral shipping companies, even going so far as to make sure the ship being imitated was thousands of miles away. ATM I just pretend that this is why there are German ships sailing in the colors of Esso, British India, etc.

If someone was to do the work...or even show me how to do it I would have no problem with a merchant file over 100mb. The more variety the better.

Can anyone point me to an instruction manual on how to do this??

I've been looking for something of this nature also. Preferaby enabled by JoneSoft™....

I think the best way will be to integrate it to Cmdr. Since the mod require you to manually "refresh" the random in mid patrol, it would be a better idea to put it in SH3 Cmdr rather than jSGME

The MVP is part of the SH3 Commander Combined Skin Pack (CSP), available from the link in my sig. The CSP also includes four of Type941's skin packs, meaning that all can used *together* without conflict. Essentially you cannot run MVP and the Type941 skins together otherwise (unless you spend time fiddling and renaming files).

In addition, by following the SH3Cmdr instructions, you can add as many ship skins to whatever date period that you would like. They can even be released as an (extra) SH3Cmdr add-on for others to download.

And how to get the flightdeck-ships and so on in the game? (like i can see in all your screenshots). And what mod is needed to get the flying people when you hit a boat?

Actually, I find it entertaining. I just imagine that American companies contracted their ships to German firms, and the labels stayed. I wasn't complaining about it the least, just pointing out that it does indeed work quite well; at least for me.
