View Full Version : I want my crew to suffer! (Mod REQ)
On my last patrol, I was DC´d ~10-15 times. My boat suffered some major damage from the charges, but I was able to repair most of it.
Then I started to think about it. I´ve had roughly two or three times, when someone from my crew has been wounded. The same amount of deaths.
Of course, there´s the hull giving cover for my crew, but there´s a lot of metal in the boat, where you can i.e. hit your head or etc.
So, to get to the point-- Is it possible to make a mod, that lowers the 'HPs' of the crew? So they get wounded more often.
I´m asking this, because for me it´s just silly to return home on a boat that looks like swiss cheese. But still everyone in the crew are in excellent shape.
Thanks in advance!

Ohhhh and to go even farther I want a window to pop open once in awhile and say something like,
Werner has burnt his hand in the galley
or
Lt Schmidt has been the butt of a practicle joke that went wrong and was lost overboard.

Trying to find the relevant post (der teddy bar response to a similar topic) I believe that the crew deaths/injuries from DC attacks was low. certainly bumps and bruises/cuts etc and the occasional broken limb did occur. Deaths from injury were rare. I have yet to get injured crew so I am not sure what levels of injury are represented.

Yeah, I remember the posts. I´m not aiming for the realism on this one. It just would add more to the immersion for me.

That is the topic. I thought the relevant changes were also mentioned, but after reading through it i don't think a solution was provided. Perhaps PM CB.. and see what he did??

If starting a new career, open each of the crew config files in notepad in the \data\cfg folder. Use the find feature and change
HitPoints=
to whatever you want it to be. If you want loads of casualties, I'd suggest something low like 5 or 6. Each entry would look like
HitPoints=6
If you are mid career and you want to change an existing crew, navigate to your captain in the My Docs folder and look for the Crew_Career_xxx.cfg where xxx is the biggest number of all the crew configs. Do the same thing as outlined above.

Wow, nice sunset sig Dowly.
Sorry nothing here about your question. But you could never send them to rest, instead make them work 24/7 :arrgh!:
i tried all sorts of differring crew hp settings and never got a nice balance--
what i got was an all or nothing result everytime--
either half the crew would be wiped out or seriously wounded or none at all--
wasn't interested in the facts only in making better gameplay use of the barracks facility in the game--train a crew member lose him and have to spend renown on a new crew member--the facility is there seems logical to try to bring it into use--allso makes the medic qualification a little more meaningfull--
but no such luck im afraid---all or nothing seems to be the rule--from a purely gameplay point of view- it might be relevant to focus on the HP for the torpedo room/crew and or Officers- as this might have an impact on gameplay -with patience it might be possible to get the effect your after--im afraid i ran out of patience before i got close--
i wanted as you say to be able to guage my success not only with tonnage sunk but averaged out against crew members injured and or lost
as this IMO would give a much fairer and "human" element to the gameplay--as you say immersive
in the end tho i settled for a jigged damage set up rendering all boat subsytems far more liable to damage than stock--with the result that i can frequently be left with a smashed boat completely useless for any desired attack---engines tubes batterys scopes etc all destroyed but hull integrity still intact--so that's patrol over--head home for repairs--would have loved to add the loss of two or three crew members to this sort of situation but all i could get was a massacre or none at all

Try the Hollywood Damage Mod. The damage done to the uboat is more, I guess, "intense." :hmm:
The damage in the uboat takes longer to repair, and crew members get seem to get killed/wounded a little more. Don't know if it is exactly what you are looking for, but I think it will suffice.
Check it out here: http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=45077&highlight=hollywood+damage
It really does something about that "tiger tank" uboat.

I couldn't agree more. I saw wounded sailors (apart from lookouts) only after the Advanced Holywood Damage. It changes the way the game is played. Definitly a must-mod

uboat.net has lists of types of injuries....obviously its not all the recorded incidents. but, it does have a nice sampling of the types that were common among the crew:
http://uboat.net/men/men_lost.htm
Year Incidents Losses Dead Wounded
1939 2 2 1 1
1940 6 12 12 0
1941 15 37 20 17
1942 36 49 42 7
1943 67 187 74 113
1944 60 212 75 137
1945 12 24 24 0
------------------------------------------------------
198 523 248 275
It seems like most injuries occurred in accidents and air attacks. I only saw one recorded from depth charges dropped and that was from an aircraft while the uboat was surfaced. So, it looks like most injuries occured at the surface and most accidents occured from torpedoes or the deck or AA misfiring. Tons of guys were lost being washed overboard. Many times it looks like they couldn't be rescued. There were a few suicides...and a few injuries and deaths from fires spreading onboard. These records they post on uboat.net are of serious wounds and not bumps, scratches and common injuries that were work related. So, these would be the kind that would be recorded as injuried but, not dead in game. It also looks like if 5-7 guys or more would get wounded or if commander was wounded the uboat would abort mission and return home. If less crew were injured 1-3 etc they were usually trasfered off at next port or resupply with milk cow.

As far as a mod that allows your crew to suffer .....I agree at this point Advanced Hollywood for RUB/IUB is the way to go....I have that installed over my RUB 1.45, HT Traffic install....I'm using NYGM crew fatigue model so I'm not sure if that affected what is in the Hollywood Crew Fatigue that is made specifically for Advanced RUB compartments....but, I have been liking it so far.
I just would liek to see maybe injuries and death resulted from C)2 poisoning..if levels get too high. Like have a trickle effect spread with few and then many as you stay submerged beyond the limits.
Okay, I got to try the Hollywood mod. Thanks for your responses!
