hi all
i hope someone could help me with this. i installed IUB 1.02 and now my deck gun seems to be broken. i can fire and hit ships but it doesn't seem to have any results. the ships don't burn or sink at all
... any idea?

I use IUb and have no trouble yet maybe I can help.
To answer question I ask what type shells are you firing and what targets - best advice is aim below or at waterline of target.
Also is this only happens with 88mm or 105mm also?

Just thinking RUB.Defaults incorperated in IUB.increase loading time & increase hit points,keep shelling.Recall perhaps 25-30 rounds of HE.

im a bit newbie on SH3, so its a 88 mm gun...
i tried several times to sink a ship with my deck gun, using armor piercing and high explosives ones... even tried to let my crew fire.
i saw the shells arrives, saw the explosion, but no result or only a tiny fire... i maybe fire about 20 or 30 shots, no changes...
before IUB, i could flame ship carriage just with a several shots and see the difference ( the ship started to burn then sink)
well, i'll try to enable the IUB mod and make some test...

I too have a problem with IUb. What is it with the ships they are all halve submerged.I was attacking convoy {ak13} and all the ships were halve submerged doing 7 knots the strangest thing ive ever seen.but apart from that IUB is a good mod.Oh nearly forgot
Large tanker x 2 (took 3 torps)
Large gargo x2
medium cargo hit it with 2 torps and it travelled for about ten miles or so then sank ,and i missed medium tanker. :D :D
ps this game is gonna get me divorced : :cry:

Loaded ships normaly appear decks awarsh in heavy seas. Tankers for sure! OLD SALT

Yes IUb incorporates more realism like RUb has - reduced gun effect and increased reload time, ships take more damage also. But you can gun them down just takes more.
If you want to increase speed of reload - be sure of crew training/skill and use something like SH3 Commander mod - it has option to increase speed of reload.
Otherwise if more IUb issues we can contact oRGy - he assembled the mod.

IuB have RuB implemented in it.
So Basically you have weaker Shell Rounds and higher reload time.
You can use SilentHunter 3 Commander to adjust the time of reloading (strongly recommended).
The purpose of weakening the deck gun was to make it use only to finish a damaged ship. In WW2, German's submariners rarely used the main gun. They used it only for finishing a cripled ship.
I can agree that it could be stronger in certain area such deck guns in later years. I saw myself firing at least 25 shells on a deck gun, which is rediculous.
I think however that Hollywood Advanced Damage Mod correct this problem or NYGM damage mod fix that too, but i'm not sure I did not play long enough to see this.
