U-Boot Commander Patrol Log v1.0

INTRODUCTION
Sailor Steve inspired me with his Patrol Logs. Keeping a log is not for everyone, but for me it increases the role-playing value. Through our logs we can paint ourselves as aggressive, cautious, prudent, daring, careless, funloving, cruel, chivalrous, etc. You can add a little flare as Sailor Steve does from time to time (nice of the crew to bring him cake and wine for his birthday!), or you can just stick to the basics and report sightings, positions, etc.

DOWN TO BUSINESS
I made an Excel Spreadsheet which makes the tedium of keeping logs a little more fun. (See screenshot for example)

REQUIREMENTS
You need Excel to use this. If you know a bit about Excel you can tweak this file to your liking. For people who aren't fans of the swaztica (no political statement made by the imagery in this file), removing it is as easy as clicking, deleting and re-saving. For those who know nothing about Excel, using this file is a snap.

RECOMMENDATIONS
It is HIGHLY recommended that you use this file in conjunction with SH3 Commander because you can just copy and paste the crew names into the slots. (But there's certainly a file somewhere in the SH3 or Documents folder which has this information if you don't like SH3 Commander.)

CAUTIONS
Some minor tweaking may be needed to align properly on your system with your given resolution. If you run Windows in 1280x1024 rez like I do it should make the going a lot easier. That said, I have tested in 1024x768 and it seemed fine.

WHAT'S NEW!
New in the 1.0 full release! All new "Freeze Pane" technology which allows you to keep the window with your crew and patrol details up as you scroll down through your logs!

DISCLAIMER
I have not included the fonts which appear in the screenshot because although they were free, I no longer have the original documentation (and don't know if I am permited to distribute). All my fonts are free, however, so if you like these, do a websearch for "American Typewriter-Light" and "JeninesHand Regular". Of course any font will work so use what you like best!

Have fun!

I been looking for some kind of journal or logbook for awhile. Closest thing I could find is shareware programs most of them are diaries though which have all this extra crap I don't need. Nothing nautical or something that could be patrol related.

This looks interesting though. I'm not sure I really want to keep cutting and pasting stuff data from sh3. I wish it could pull data from the html created by sh3 commander or something. Especially if crew are always being switched out. The interface you created looks nice though. I just wish it was some kind of c program...or incorporated with sh3 commander. I will give it a try and see how it goes. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks for the comments all.

I was thinking this exact same thing. I'll contact the creator of that program to see if this can be added to it in a future release.

Uber Gruber, I'm not familiar with Open Office but assume anything that can read (and write to) Excel spreadhseets should work. Not sure if the alignment will change or not but like I said that stuff is easily tweaked.
