Entertainment software publisher Black Bean Games today announced they will be bringing the submarine simulation Dangerous Waters to Europe. Dangerous Waters takes submarine simulations to new depths. For the first time you can control multiple types of combat platforms including aircraft, helicopters, surface and submarine vessels. This fully loaded submarine simulation lets you engage your enemies on, above and below the water in the most powerful submersibles in the world.
Players will be able to launch fully co-ordinated attacks OR command the advanced AI to take control leaving the player to use the weapon systems or the sonar or even other units! The possibilities are literally endless in Dangerous Waters with players being able to use the mission generator to create limitless levels and then share their achievements with the ever growing online submarine community!
The level of detail in Dangerous Waters is unparalleled by any game of its type and will sure to make a big splash when it sails into stores April 2006.
The European boxed version will release this April and will feature localised content, extra missions and a extensive list of added material that will soon be disclosed. Fans will be delighted as this luxury boxed edition reaches the stores this spring!

Very interesting !
Not sure how excited to get about:-OR command the advanced AI to take control leaving the player to use the weapon systems or the sonar or even ''OTHER UNITS'' !
On the one hand this may just be press spin. On the other we have a very exciting prospect and one that I
have canvassed - namely the ability to jump inter platform. So, as with DIDs Total Air War you 'jump' from
AWACS (Frigate ?) to pilots seat. (P3/Heli/Sub ?) :|\
Whether this process incorporates other stategic mission control features remains to be seen....A Fleet Command port ?
Fully coordinated attacks. Makes me hopeful. :hmm:
If mere spin, no matter, we have the delights of new platforms and missions to seduce us - a Super Mod (X) ?
However if I can ''jump/coordinate'' then we have a new game. Heck, is this DW2 or 3 ? That would be very cool. :yep:
Might even take the dust covers off my credit card fot that. ;)

Ya but what extra features? New models and explosions.
The extra missions and stuff will that be available to people who have got it from Battlefront?

Ah ''ye of little faith.'' :D
Surely even the most cynical spin merchant or wilful wordsmith could not over-egg -
''extensive list of added material'' or '' this luxury boxed edition ''.....................could they ? ;)
However I remain optimistic. :yep:

That makes me so glad that I paid to have the game and the printed manual imported to the UK. :/ Ah well, c'est la vie.

Well I just read the original Press release, and honestly, to my understanding no feature like platform jumping. Yes we have this quote :
Players will be able to launch fully co-ordinated attacks OR command the advanced AI to take control leaving the player to use the weapon systems or the sonar or even other units!
That however is IMHO simply about turning on/off the Autocrew on the stations (and thus letting the AI take control) and control of other units is most likely related to the Helo on the FFG. But you have to give it to the PR guys ... nice reading and certainly compelling to take a look at DW.

:D Yep - its very probably just wishful thinking on my part - dream fulfilment .................................but it states clearly:-
''leaving the player to use the weapon systems.....
or the sonar .....
or even other unitS!'' (Plural)
If we understand units to be platforms (plural) then ?
But thats the trouble with the English language, it has many, many shades of meaning.
 Perhaps one too many here for me :hmm:
Ah well I will dream on. ;)

And technically, you can control those from the ASTAC station.

My hopes are that the European retail release is DW 1.04 and that has some of the more extensive open patch issues such as redoing the ASTAC station to allow more FFG Helo control, and perhaps a European playable platform or two... :)
As a warmup for the OPFOR pack to be released in June... (pure speculation)
The more DW sells in its current distributions the more likely I think this is to happen. :)

Not to be the guy with the bad news, but I think that the Europe Version will be 1.03 (maybe 1.04 if there are some serious issues) just with different languages.
It's time consuming and difficult enough just to translate the game correctly in other languages - Babelfish or Google Translator just wont do. On top of that comes a hopefully translated manual ...
I'd be happy if the game would be released in german, as I know there are some customers who would love to play DW, they just are not good enough in english to handle the game right now. But once DW is released in localized version I would guess that it finally will bring enough revenue to start cracking on the much sought after OpFor Pack or some other pressing issues (ASTAC Station, masts and so on).

Ok, well maybe I am getting ahead of myself. ;)
Everybody calm down... There's no SUPER-DUPER European version, it will likely just be v1.03 (or beyond) of Dangerous Waters.
As for additional content, that's news to me... (unless they're planning on creating some of it, I certainly haven't been notified of it)

So, if it will be released in Europe in April, why does this shop here already have a UK version on the shelves?

(and it is no mistake on the website, I have been there, it is in stock)

Maybe because they are selling the american retail version ?
Nothing strange mind you, they sell what is available right now waiting for the official european release.
Simware did the same thing with Falcon 4 Allied Force, they sold the american retail version until the game was poperly published in europe.
