OK this is teh sticky to post what you want to work on or are working on.

I'll start.

Some are more advanced than others.

Akula I, Akula I Improved, Akula II (Both kinds) Need painting and testing to sort out pivots.

688 VLS and 688i need painting and converting and testing for door openings.

Seawolf being reworked for doors but more on that later.

Grisha - Needs masts made and then mapping and converting.

Royal Navy CV Awaiting final deck config before I advance.

Bay Class LSD(A) Needs a few masts and then off to the mapper and painter

HMS Fearless. Need to add crane and a mast

HMS Daring Type 45 - Really going well with this one.

Kirov class CGN - Hull only so far

USS Nimitz. - Just needs props and radars.

USS Wasp - Needs masts.

Golf Class SSB - Just needs mapping.

Lada SSK - Needs mapping.

Viktor I, II and III now they look OK but could be improved a bit.

Borey Class SSBN - Just needs a decent paint job.

Severodvinsk - Needs mapping and painting.

Type 212 and 214 - Mapping needed.

DD(X) Been mapped just needs props added and painting.

LCS - still working on that one.

Sang-O super small NK sub.

So that is a list of most that are close to completion.

Unless you have not noticed I hate it when it comes to doing radar masts and stuff, so you get a model made with everything but that. Then I start something else.

So post here what you plan to make or are making and hopefully we can avoid replication.

my only problem and cause of delay is painting. We have one guy who makes textures (imho very good ones) but he's currently overworked 'cause he's doing also textures and 2D screens for Destroyer Command.
One model which would need some work is the german type209. The one in the game is really terrible. Unless somebody has already done that I'd like to try. I think I should have some good drawings somewhere... :hmm:

I was just wondering if it is at all posible to bring the sub from Blue Submarine No. 6 into the game.

I have modeled things for diffrent games so I know I could make the model and texture it. But I don't know if it will work in the game. I would rather know that it might work before I start trying to make it.

For those of you that don't know what the sub looks like, here is a pic of it.

Nice model, but what would we do with it in dw ?
Its like putting a spaceship in a flight simulator.

I know the DW is a realistic sim game and everything, but some times it is nice to try throwing in something compleatly diffrent just for kicks.

Not trying to sound like a prick or anything, but there have been spaceships in plane sims before (Xplane for example).

Ok I was without Internet for about 3 weeks (and maybe again). So I cracked open my ‘Guide to the Soviet Navy’ and GMAX then I started modeling ships. I’m focusing for the most part on the support ships (you know the old saying; experts talk logistics…)

So far my model list is:
Generic Container Ship Based on German built Mercur class
Generic SEABEE based on Tibor Szamueli (painting)
T-4 Landing Craft (Almost done with modeling, has BMP-1s loaded)
Lama Class Missile Transport-Tender (Painting)
Amur Class Repair Ship (Half done with modeling, next time Kapitain gets run over by a carrier he can dock here.)
El'Brus Class Salvage and Rescue Ship (Almost done with modeling. Seems like just the thing the DW Russian Navy needs, can deploy the Poseidon DSRVs I think.)
Kolomna Class Cargo Ship (Just started, will have Russian Navy and Generic liveries)
Atrek Class Cockroach Breeding Vessel Errrr Submarine Tender (Just started, modded version of Kolomna)

Possible future models:
Mayak class AGI/Trawler/Refrigerated Stores ship (The latter might be a good place to assign “politically unreliable” players…)
Urga class Submarine Tender/Training Ship (A sub game with no sub tenders! For shame SCS!)
Alesha class Minelayer
Akademik Mstislav Keldysh Hydrographic Research Ship

The modeling is about on par with some of the good default AI models. I also got a Muff Cob FC (for 57mm AAs) and Strut Curve Air/Surface Search Radars available- Xabba I know you don’t like doing the masts and stuff so if these might make you life easier just give me a holler. (The Strut Curve used transparency for the lattice effect.)

I'm now switiching to the Phone company's ISP since whey they decide to screw me they are at least upfront about it. :damn: :damn: :damn:

I hope you got that squared away! I wouldn't pay AOL a dime since it was your telephone companies snafu. I don't plan on it. Apprently the Phone Company took the money back from AOL. But I'm now signed up on the Phone Company's ISP (considering that they basicly robbed AOL I want these people on my side) and have canceled my AOL account. :doh:

Xabba sent me a bunch of stuff, but I have no idea what to do with it to be honest. :oops:

I need to be explained the process of adding the 3-d models to the database and game folders in very short sentences with very small words... :doh:

Why the hell did it get rotated? :huh: Standing on end in MAX.

Also one other thing, why the prop, hull and diveplnes and rudder seperate files?

Would it not be better to have them all together? One more thing, I notice you grouped all the stuff together. I tend not to in MAX..I rarely group or weld bits unless they are rotating pieces which have several parts.

Just makes lining it up dead centre a little tricker though I managed it.

Well I made that boat for VS which requires the props, rudders and anything that moves to be a seprate file. I also attach all the parts together because it makes it easyer to assign the maps otherwise I have to assign the same map to a dozen or so bits insed of just one part.

I think the model got flipped because I converted it back from a .x to .3ds. I remember losing the .3ds and I have to use the VS versons .x to make it again which probaly caused some problems.

I seem to have had nothing but problems with that model when I made it. :damn:

Any interest in having men armed with AA weapons like SA-7s and RPG-7s as stationary objects? I got a sailor model from Red Oktober that I've turned in to a Russian Motor Rifle trooper and a Russian Naval Infantryman.

I got to make the weapons (I do have an AK-47 and AK-47U model too) and I still can't upload (stupid ISP) but I’m wondering if there is any interest from the MH-60 and P-3 drivers.

I map each object seperately and each object goes on a map, you have seen mine so you know what I mean.

Just makes things a little tricker but easier model placement wise.

Well, OS, the solution to that is to make a whole battery... still a single launcher, but the object entry in the database and the 3-d model reflect a SAM "emplacement" of sorts with infantry and some feature.

I KNOW the idea is to have some guy running around with a launcher going all stealth, but no one wants to fly over a little rubber raft or near a curve in the shore and get shot down by a Grail with no way to fire back.

BTW I think that a Mav or Hellfire is a perfictly acceptable weapon to use against a squad of guys with MANPADs. A Visual would be required (since I doubt Radar could detect them). Also it might be neat to have RPGs that can target low flying aircraft and ships, they wouldn't do much damage to a ship but it might knock out a system or something- at the least it would make driving up to an enemy shoreline a thing of the past.

I think more stuff on land would be a good thing in general, not just for pilots. Bare in mind, events on land motivate war at sea, and most war at sea is intended to influence events on land.

Wondering if I could join in. Got nothing but Gmax and paint, and i've become and expert at paint because its the only thing I have in terms of images. Wondering if I could join in and make SSBN's or anything Thermalnuclear?:D

-and I hope what you mean by placing troops is placing clusters of troops as a single unit. It'd get rediculus in terms of numbers otherwise, and I'd like to start working on tanks... despite the fact they're not nuclear.:lol:

I was thinking about land based stuff. Should be some of the easiest stuff to model. I have a truck mounted Swedish land based SSM.

I was taking a look at the chinese stuff too. Does anyone have shore based artillery. The Russians have a mobile system but it doesn't seem much different to land warfare stuff.

SeaQueen if you have links and list of good shore based stuff please post it.

Its great to see old Sub Command users out there still are in action in Dangerous Waters too, people like Xabbarus and others.

Is the model request issue dead? Last post is 8 months old. If not I request the Track I, IIA, IIB = Yavuz, Barbaros, Salihreis MEKO 200 of the Turkish Navy.

Btw, this is my first post after return from 4 years absence to naval warfare sims community, I couldnt see Tomashew around, did he depart? Its great to see a new all-detail realism mod like old SCX = LWAMI has been made.

I agree with Sea Queen and TLAM; it would be great to get more land units and man portable weapons. Remember Jane's WWII Fighters? There were ground untis such infantrymen, horse-drawn charts, field guns, trucks, tanks...

It would rock to have some bad guys in technicals to blast them from the shore with the Phalanx or the OTO-Melara gun. :hmm: Ground support missions would bring renewed interest in surface and AA-SA warfare rather than always centering on ASW one.

Air combat is really bad in DW, in practice it is completely unworkable. It is possible to fake air to air and air to surface combat with scripts, but if you try setting up a true aerial attack (or defense), the limitations of the DW engine become obvious.

Of what era are we talking of? I served during the Cold War (76-79) and at the time all we were concerned with was russian Alpha and Whiskey clas subs. When I went to Sonar "A" school in April of '76, we just recieved news that they were building the "Typhoon" class sub. Of course they were building the "Kiev" and Moskva" class ships, half battleship, half aircraft carrier. I was serving on board the USS Aylwin (FF-1081) and we had an AN-SQS 26CX sonar with a MK 114 Fire control system for the ASROC system which was later outfitted to fire Harpoons too. We also had an AN-SQS 35 VDS (variable depth sonar). Below the main deck at the fantail was a large room that held a crane and the sonar. You had to read your charts VERY carefully because Ensign Hymen didn't and he slammed it into an undersea mountain! After the captain gave him 10 new rectums later, dropped him 1 in rank and pay, the gov'ment paid 15 million doleros for a new fish. We're talking approx. 6 feet in length by 4 feet high. We never used it very much because of the accident I just told you. The CX sonar had Omni- directional, convergence zone, triple frequency and two more I can't remember. We usually had it passive, that way you could hear a russian sub run their garbage disposal, open/close their torpedo doors and listen to their awfully noisy enginesfrom a max of 150 miles away. We used to sneak up on them when they were cruising at periscope depth and hit them with a 7 second pulse from our sonar! They would surface and we would cruise around them in circles taking pictures for the CIA and the Navy.:arrgh!:

My current project is to do some oddball database editing and repainting of skins so I can make a GI Joe mod for the database. I'm also plugging away at an attempt to make a "Death Star" of an oil rig/battle platform (Inspired by Sakurra Mod:D ).

I may also reskin some stuff to do some near future science fiction kind of battles/espionage situations.

We all been yelling for years about new playables and making the origionals look better but what about the two small minor details that have been missed?

Sub command incorperated one of these and they are:

The diving klaxon
And the man battle stations alarms

Did we over think these minor details they would be good to implement :D

Something I would really like to see implemented is fire damage onboard, like in Destroyer Command. After all, fire is one of the worst things that could happen inside a sub and, as far as surfarce warfare is concerned, during the Falklands War the British lost many a ship not due to hull damage (taking water) caused by the missile explosion but rather to damage caused by uncontrollable fires that fed on the Exocets' fuel.

I know. I spent months doing AAW and antimissile tests in DW, checking database and doctrine tweaks. Too bad Sonalysts didn't include a modeling of radar behaviour and air physics. That's something that is already available from air sims engines outta there; they should have included that in DW...
