Ive noticed that occasionaly with the type IX boats they sink/float when submerged at at 0knts
Is there any way to make this more pronounced and a feature on all u-boats?
One of the most unrealistic things in SHIII is the ability to keep depth with out moveing.

I Second that!

I have noticed it with the other boats... but it is much slower... maybe it has to do with the submerged tonnage of the boat that determines its sink rate?

The deeper you are, the more pronounced it is. I know ive said it before, but ive been in numberous situations where I'vte beendown to like 260 meters, with the the boat at a 30 dedgree incline, bow up, stern down, barely hanging on. Say at 3 kt? At 2Kt i would lose depth.

Ive also noticed that the longer you stay in this condition, the harder it is to surface. Most of the time pickign up speed will help you recover depth. (IE, flank) I can remember at least once incident when no speed setting helped me surface and had to order "surface" in the hope that it would blow air into the tanks. It worked, but since i was still under a DC attack i had to stop my ascent. In same attack i had to go deep again. Having ordered surface a couple times and stopping the ascent, i found myself in a situation where the only way to surface (because the command "surface" was no longer working) was to blow ballast.

It would be a great lep forward indeed if we could identify the origin and regulation of buoyancy in the game. An educate dguess would be that since the effect is different and more noticeable in the Type IX it could depend either A) On tonnage, and thus be encoded and out of reach :shifty: , or B) Scripted in the specific submarine file, and thus be *possible* to crack :hmm:

If thats the case, then why not just increase the tonnage? Its only visible to the game files anyway. err, i think :hmm:
