An MS member (bobterrius) take a look at the ship size and found that we Frenchie habve the smallest carrier in the world :D
http://terrius.free.fr/compa%204.jpg
The Charles de Gaulle in DW have the size of a big tug boat :rotfl: :rotfl:
Damn... RoW operates some small carriers. Really stretches the term right there.
In fact, CDG IS the smallest nuclear carrier in the world ... but not the smallest ship.
After the Amethyste, modelised as the louder submarine of the game and the poorest nuke, we have now a carrier sized like a FFG......
I tought DW was realistic ... even for french platforms.

Yea I did a check and the CDG is only a bit shorter than the Kuznetsov.
Hmmm me thinks I'll have to look at quite a few of the models.
Need to get Nimitz finished first.
Then the CVF which has changed its deck config AGAIN!!!
Then I can take a look at CDG and some other flat tops.

But own the smallest aircraft carrier of the world is an advantage.
Smaller means less detectable, and less recognizable in a task group.
And also it permits her to escap easily to the hellacious missile.

french do make small reactors
looking at the naval buget last year they are still paying for the CDG infact only 2/3 of the debt has been paid which means the navy is nearing bankruptcy if it continues for another few years.
french have only slightly updated the surface fleet but the fleet remains old not obsolete it still has some very capible ships but its old.

It's a confusion beetween the solution picture and show truth.
switch to show truth and you will see SS-N-27 are very effective against the CDG, even at long range.

I have use this picture on a humoristic goal.
Only because this situation where the CDG has the height of a frigate make me laugh.
So I'm sorry if it isn't clear.
Moreover this picture date of one of my first game and I wasn't a good captain of ship.

not really that obsolete ;)
I don't know what you mean about bankrupcy, but you probably misunderstood something.
something like budget restrictions.
The disease of our army was, from the end of cold war, each time gvnmt needed money, they were pick it in the armee budget.
now it seem over, from near a decade.
Political choices and budgets are more realistic and coherent, globals, not just addition here or there.
I hope one day we could have an european armee anyway.

you have a reserve declaration of bankruptcy is when there is $0 or minus numbers coming out.
those new ships do sound good too.
at least everyone is being upgraded now days

90 feet wide
20,600 tonnes full load

Ok this looks to be a close as the DW CDG can get to being correct in scale...
http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/3424/011cn.jpg
Does it need to be reduced in verticle size?

looks about right now but the invincible class what did you do ? :o :o :o
invincible is right hand drive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the flight deck is on the wrong side TLAM !!!!!!!!!
if you need pics of the invincible il scan and give them too you !

The invincible got "Mirrored" when I extracted it from the DW graphics folder. I just put it there to scale the CDG so don't worry about it. I didn't change the Invincible and I got the CDG scaled and I'm now working on the Gepard PTG.
Is there any other wrongly scaled boats?

on the first image posted, the Var and jeanne d'arc are bigger than a US Carrier so I guess there is size problem.
there is one picture where you see the CDG with an US aircraft.
need to find it back ...
found it on the web =>

the US carrier stole us all our planes !!

the US carrier stole us all our planes !! I don't know about the French but we keep a lot of ours on deck at all times, that way we can carry extra planes in relation to our hanger space.
Anyways here is the CDG, Durance, and Gepard all resized:

Now I just need to hear back on if the converson to DW worked right.

thanks very much TLAM
we must check this for all surface don't you think ?
if you are OK I will do, using a reference platform to size all, like an OHP or something.
no matter if there is few % out, but not hundreds % ...

Yes a full check of every ship in the database would be good. I did a quick check last night and didn't find any other than the 3 we know of, but there was a few countries I didn't check.
tomorrow, I will compare surface platform size (most crutial than subs cause of stadimeter) from argentina to iran on the list.

The lengths in the database determine where the bow wake and how deep in the water it sits.
some aren't accurate.
I have a hull and flight deck for a Nimitz class. I could use that to make new US CVN models and also as a base for a new CDG.
BTW ... is there any number in the database refering to the object size ?
even if not in meters, convertion should be easy.

In metres I think.
