Here's a thought. Is it possible to show subpen and docks being damaged in SHIII?

In the campaign I lost which was in March of 1943 for the last patrol, I had bombers attacking St. Nazaire with HT1.46. They sank ships in the harbor but I never saw a hit on the subpens or docks. In reallife the US went after both the pens and shipping in the harbors, and caused extensive damage on both. Can it be done in the game with a mod or are they hardcoded?

On being transferred from one base to another you can't tell, but I imagine that's the reason for the transfer. Being able to see damge before leaving, or during the departure of a patrol would be nice.

Thanks Letum. I figured as much but had to ask anyway. Too bad tho, sure would be nice to see ingame in a career.

It may be possible to have them dammaged at the start of the mission if we find out how to edit ports, but it wont be possible for them to get dammaged in a mission

That would even be nice to see. Goodluck finding a way to do it.

I was thinking about creating a mod with damaged building textures that could be ported in thru SH3 commander's date-based swapping system. That is, circa 1943 onwards the tga files for dockside structures would have bomb/fire damage indicating the effect of air raids. These files are very easy to edit after they're extracted with SH3 unpacker. There would be no way to make it coincide with an actual attack but it would add to the atmosphere.

Sweet IBC, it would look great. Even if we waited to install it when we got to 1943 in our careers.

As Captian Jean Luke Picard would say.... "Make it so." ;)
