Hello all,

I was wondering if there was someone working on a death view mod...ie instead of the mission screen popping up as soon as you are killed, we get an external view of the sub as she spirals down into the dark, bubbles and oil streaming from here...then get the post mission screen pop up.

I was playing multi-player with externals and a human U-boat was sunk. I saw the externals of her and it looked very good ( no if you were in here though )

I think it may add a little if it could be done. The current method, although perhaps more accurate, seems a little abrubt.

I also hate the death screen, it really kills the immersion and doesn't give you a chance to look around.
I was killed 'by collision' yesterday and still have no idea what I hit  .

Maybe you could change to 'critical damage' TC setting to '0' so it pauses the game when you are just about to die?

You do have to ask how immersive / authentic is it to see your self dead/dieing in your sub from a 3rd person view....

Not sure that matters. Does a real Captain man a deck gun in the middle of combat? Does time compression work in real life ( sleep does not count! )?

"Nobody knows what happens when you die"

Maybe when you die, you get to watch your sub sink.

A somewhat humorous touch would be to use the Flashpoint-type death where you turn into a seagull. And so do all of your crew. And then we know where those flocks in port come from and why they won't stop bothering your damn sub :rotfl:

yer, flashpoint had the most realistic death.
I remember circleing the enemy positions as a seagul in multiplayer to give them away. Close air support at its best! :-j

what do you guys want insted of the death screen?

All true. What I would like is an 'Aces' type ending in which you see a newspaper article lamenting your loss. Those were fun, since they also had newspaper headlines showing your promotions and medals awards.

There still has to be some sort of 'Game over - you are dead' screen, it just needs to be delayed until after you really are dead. Being able to look around in free cam would be a nice addition :yep: .

Nothing.....

The game must to continue as in many other sims.

Dead screen must to appears only when i press Escape key.

Yeah... It should be like in Silent Hunter 2.

The ideal is only exit when you hit space
or a screen "your sub has been destroyed, click here to continue"

other simulators let you stay in the game after your destruction.
like sub command, forgotten battles,...

perhaps you should have the old, 'life passing before your eyes routine' - baby u-boat catpain - close up of mama's tit, childhood chums, and so forth until you see pictures of nazis, u-boat school - all flashing by so fast you can't really grasp it - then a dark tunnel with a light at the end.
