I'm playing the frst mission (Opening Moves) in the Operation Rough seas campaign. I am commanding the Seawolf. The objective is to escort my battlegroup into safe territory. I submerged quite deep to about 2000 ft. hit sped at flank and sped ahead to check ot an unusual contact. I suspected it was a submarine. I classified it as a Kilo. We are loking to take out any Islamics who may be hoping to take down our fleet. Bottomline: wo knows what kind of sub they may be using. I slowed rose to about 130 ft, launched a UUV, and kept tabs on him. Ke kept inching slowly toward the battlegroup, so I thought...Ok I've seen enough. I launced a couple of torpedos at him. one of them hit...(although I don't know whaen you hit a sub or ship, you still continue to receve contact information asthough it were still there) With that I hear multiple torpedos in the water in te direction of my own battlegroup, so I though no way would they fire on me!!! A minte or so later I'm sinking to the bottom after being hit with an MK50 Torpedo. As it turns out the sub I killed was a Chineese Han, not a KILO, but still....what exactly happened here? did myown fleet reallyput me down? If so, why????

I think you got between their fish and the enemy...

I've been fired on by friendly AI surface forces before, in a MP dive no less. :damn:

I fired an ADCAP at a certain person on this forum about 14nm away (which killed him after I died... ;) ) when I was about 500 yards away from a Spruance and it immediately put a MK50 in the water and I died before i could figure out exactly what had happened. :dead:

If friendly surface ships are in a hostile posture and are prosecuting submarines and you happen to be near them and fire torpedoes, about 50% of the time they will snapshot torpedoes down the bearing of your TIW.

So you have to be very careful about firing torpedoes around friendly surface forces when they have detected hostile submerged contacts in their vicinity. :arrgh!:

Off topic, how fast can a seawolf travel undetected? I am sure it aries according to depth??

Depends on distance, SSP, bottom type and your enemy (skilled or not).
The AI have very good crews sometimes, and detection ranges are fixed (sort of I think).

blue on blue happens its life i had a blue on blue in a multiplayer game one of those things

20 knots normaly but can go to 40 at great depth but it still could be detected
