been doing alot recently with the perry frigate and i found that if i set a way point over water with my helo, when it drops down to hover it shows up as a frigate.

ive tried this out in battle and it works ENS sharbait ended up firing 4 of his harpoons at my helo and all four missed, later on i managed to sink him thanks to using that particular tactic.

any one else notice this?

I'm guessing that you're talking about the helo going low enough to be seen by the surface radar?

If so, then it's his misinterpretation to read the contact as a surface contact. A mistake that seems to have cost him the boat?
Occasionally, seaskimmers have shown up as vfast surface contacts - at least I seem to remember seeing those.

Interesting info for you FFG guys out there.

The Air Search Radar, which of course is what you use for detecting incoming vampires and other assorted flying things, is not detectable on a submarine ESM, only the Surface Search Radar shows up on submarine ESM.

So you FFG players in MP can have your air radar on all day long so far as player submarines are concerned.

That's a link bug. Sometimes the game puts the link for the wrong contact where the vamp is detected...and if you shoot at that 1900knot arliegh burke, it your missile goes after the burke in its real location instead of the vampire that your FCR is supposedly illuminating.

Oh yeah, I remember that. There are plenty of link bugs, but this may be one of the worst in terms of impact...

I'm pretty sure I tested this at some point. Though I think I may have been testing against an AI at the time I'm quite sure I got the Air search radar.
I think I mentioned it in my guide, too.

It may be at a shorter range than the surface search, or that sort of thing.
