just wondering if anyone could model it after all ships and submarines do have them and its not modeld in game but be nice to blow once in a while.
note to the dirty minded people on this forum; NOT WHAT YOU THINK !!!!
It would be nice to give out three short blasts for whenever those civvies get into the way... Just before you blow them out of the water :arrgh!:

Record the sound.
Make it a .wav (PCM 22.050 kHz, 16 Bit, Mono)
and use a trigger in a mission to play it.

I'm going to do that. Anyone have a good recording of a Navy ship's whistle? If I remember correctly, getting underway should be one long blast followed by three short ones...

There is a little BGM near the end but its the best I could do. I recoreded it from an episode of NOVA.

That link is going to get me in trouble with the wife...pop-up for passion.com showed up. :o :damn:
EDIT: Thank goodness she had the kids while I went into the temporary internet file and removed everything associated with it. By the way...nice sound as long as you can get rid of the talking.

Okay, I've found a good 'getting underway' whistle sound file! I've modified the first Red Storm Rising campaign (and single) mission so that, as soon as you begin to get underway with the FFG, the whistle blows.
The new version has been added to my RSR Campaign download file. If you just want the sound file and changed mission(s), grab 'em from the link below:

This reminds me of when I was at sea on an FFG just out of Mayport and woke up to find that the fog was so bad, one could barely see much past the bow of the ship. I stood on the bridge watching what was going on. Every time they blew the horn an ensign and I (a lowly "rider") nearly jumped out of our skin. We just giggled at each other standing there on the bridge wing. The guns going off didn't bother me nearly as much at that horn. The gun going off was kind of cool. The horn was annoying. The sound of it made me want to crawl into a hole.

There's no giggling on a warship!!! :damn:  :arrgh!:
Im a bloody idiot... I meant five short blasts. (was taught to me as meaning 'What the hell are you doing!?'
Oh well, just reinforces the fact that the CIWS is lethal against anything within range :D

Oh no, and under no circumstances do people keep each other awake by telling dirty jokes during night watch.
