Hi guys...
I am working on some gauges for slidout with bigger dials.
All credits goes to Ex_Rasinban with his great Compass, which gave me the chance to learn a lot about editing those MenuIDs and other stuff in the Dials.cfg.... :up:
So, this is the stage i am now. The New great Compasstexture is made by Chebawokee from my Clan. It is not finished but in hard work! thank`s a lot to cheba. ;)
All other dials are from the great Textures of OakGroove.
So here in pictures....When the Compass is finished completely, i will release this first GaugesSlidoeutMod.....

this is much more comfortable to use, then the small mini dials in your Console....(i hope so :))

Ok, the first Slideoutgauges could be one standalone Mod.
It is easier to built in. Edits are there needed in the menu_xxx.ini and in the Dials.cfg.
Have to wait for the finished Texture for the Mod, then i can release it.
I am now working on a other Gauges Mod.
I will make the thing like the 6 Dials in the Console right down.
That means, u can toggle them with a button like in the Console.
So u have more space and u can have all 6 Dials in biggauges and slideout.
Example:
The 260 m Dials u see, if i push the Button i can change them into the 25 m Dials like in the lower small console.

Problem there:
U can`t use your small Dials anymore!
So this mod will be interesting for those who use my transparent ConsoleMod with the slidout function, like i am using it.
Because i will make it so, that the right Console with the Dials, time etc. will slideout down, so not be visible anymore.
nice thing: u have now big Dials for use and do not need to edit the Dials.cfg, only the menu_xxx.ini file!
Needs much work now to complete this Mod, but will be a nice one for me :)

ive just downloaded the navymap tools u made and im looking forward to this mod cos is integrated along with boardinstrument 1.0. Thank you for this excelent mods and the incoming one :rock: :rock:
Then i had an idea (u asked for ideas on the navimap dev thread)

In example(im no modder but logic seems good) is like making a compass dial where only the outer ring moves when u click it but it doesnt move nothing more but the dial.
This tool should be included in navimap,tdc, peris, uzo screens. If this is possible u will be my new hero.

ZOMG! i got it how to do it!!! looking at a screenshot in the boardinstrument thread.
Just make an AoB dial linked to the one in the tdc (even u can do an AoB input in this new dial) But the background must have another ring and the needle graph should be replaced with the inner dial of the tool. With this i can make the calc with the dial wheel and then when i got the aob then only need to turn the 0 to the estimated aob given by itself (if i forget to do this i will miss the shot for sure XD). To be useful, readable and precise it needs to be bigger like ur gauges.
This along with a slideout panel with the commands in the tdc screen into the observation instruments can save to us a considerable time when aiming torps at target cos we never leave the observation station. And its realistic as seen on Das boot the tdc input is given to the WO by voice. I never saw the Captain using the TDC console.
im gonna try to photoshop and copy paste screenshots to explain better my idea.

Hi!
First Version (first Post) will be finished when the Textures for the Compass are finished, have to wait now for that..... :roll:
But will be a good one! :)
The second Version i am now working on (a lot of editing the menu_xxx.ini :dead: ) will be anytime finished. Also need to wait for the Texture of the Compass.
This Version will be only for those who are using the TransparentConsole!
Because, on this Version it is not possible to use the Original Dials (small ones down in Console) anymore!
That is maybe a problem, but i think it is great!
I am playing a while with this Mod and i love it. It is a new feeling of setting depth`s, speed, course etc. because u don`t have a feeling to friggle those small dials down the console.
Now u have really big and readable Dials to use, like it should be in a sim!
The nice one is that it works like the origginal Dials, with toggling the Dials....

That is the stage at the moment....but needs a lot of work.
I will maybe make some Background for the Text like Knots, Degrees and depth....
The big difference between the Version up and the one i am working now on, is that in the upper Version complete NEW Dials are built in. (Editing the Dials.cfg for new Dials and inserting Blocks in the menu_xxx.ini because of adding new MenuID Groups...)
On the other Version with toggling them, the difference is that this aren`t new dials, they are just cloned or better said: rebuilt. The problem there is that the original consoledials will not work anymore. (Only editing of the menu_xxx.ini necessary because of just cloning/copying MenuID Groups...)

As feedback, the digit numbers seems to need a background, may be a metalic window. Just an opinion.
And more.... a mod like this will be wonderful in the TDC ..... TDC instruments are so small, a mod like this can improve too much the use of the TDC.....

Looks so better now..... may be you can do it as part of the instrument, adding a "corner" to the instrument case, with a window for the number and the button. :up:
Please, think about to do it for the TDC, can be a gret improvement for manual TDC, as from the box, TDC instruments are so small and near to useless.

Some times due to my bad english i sufer of a 'lack" of words. :D
And i dont reach to explain well what i want to say.
That i sugested was to make a some kind of "triangle" with a round vertex in that corner, so the digital indicator and the button are not "floating in the air" :up:

That is a "need", i dont know how to do, wonderful if you can made a slide instruments for the TDC in a very big size, i made that for SH2, but this program is so diferent, just wonderful if you can do that. :up:

Hi guys!
Not so much time at the moment for finishing both Versions...but i am working on it!
Solved the big Problem with the deactivated original console with the Timecompression etc.....
I putted it as slideout at the bottom of the Textfield.
Also enlarged the Textfield a little bit for longer Text and changed the Fonts there......
Also, a nice improvement, u can now scroll the Text with the mouse like drag&drop in the whole Textfield! Not only at the Slider (left side) like original one :) It is much more comfortable, faster and preciser sliding now!
Have to finish some minor problems there, then i will release the big 6 dials Version!
The smaller 4 Dials Version will be released this week, if everything works fine! :)

Nearby finishing this Mod....
(Damn this Mod....never had so much work with
modding something :dead: But i love it! :D)
Have still to solve some minor problems with some TGAs......
But i had have a small, nice idea:
Something what i missed the hole time in this game, was the ability to see somewhere the course i am running on the Rudder.
You know, when u turn with rudder, u never see a text or numbers which are showing u the course u are running or turning at the moment.
So that i have not found a possibility to solve this problem, because i have not found something like text to put it in, because the game seems to have not such a possibility to show u in numbers ur course that u run at the moment.
I found another nice compromise for that.
Now u will have shown the Compass (had to create a new MenuID) as background behind the Rudder.tga which u see in foreground. So i just cut a small empty field, where u can see the Background of the new compass.
that meens, now u see ur course while turning with rudder! :)

Ok, that just byside.
Now it is nearby finish, the first version with 4 Dials.
Have just to edit some thing like new MenuID groups, because there are a lot of users with other Mods like Stopwatch etc. which could use the same MenuIDs, which i used for my Mod. So i will take complete new ones with higher numbers that there will be no conflicts with other Mods.... hope so :roll:
So, works go on.
4 dials Version will be released today or tomorrow if everything goes right.... (hope so ;))

I have no time at the moment, but will look at it when i have time for that......
At the moment i am working a lot on this dialsmod with the time i have.
Maybe i will look next to do something with the TDC dials... add new ones or enlarge them or something like that.....
To have a working stopwatch at the Hydrophonroom would be nice!? Have also to look at that.....
Is there any Mod with a stopwatch? which one and do it work?

U will have the possibility to have the Compass like u want.
U can have it that he completely turns like in the screens above, and u will have a overlaying smaller TGA like u mean, that do not move, is fixed.
That is included...

Ok, i have tested something and it works without Probs.
Have made a new texture and some Edits....
Now i have the most important Dials in the Attackperiscope, i will build this also in the UZO.
Have to adjust some things to get the Salvemodus in as slideout over Notepad or so....
Have to see it....

Ok, Periscope is finished for this Mod, first!
Nice thing: It is much more easier to built in, like the dialsmods.
Because of just adding new Blocks which are definetily not used :)
I have set the Salvesection where u can set the Spreadangle and the Choosen Tubes, to the up top over the Notepad.
It will slides down when u move with ur mouse at the top of the Notepad.

I will just set those two things also to the UZO!

Oh, there is not really a release termin for now....have to adjust some things.
But the biggest work is done, editing that menuxxxx.ini and dials.cfg.
Now i have to overwork some Textures.....
This here is the momental stage i am.
Because when i got those Torpedodepth, Spreadangle etc. to the Attackperiscope, i couldn`t stop and i also got the most Important Instruments for guys (like me) who shoot manually their torpedos!
I put that as slideout from left to right, so if players don`t need those Instruments because they shoot with WO, they don`t be permanently visible.
(Because i am the same oppinion like Redwine that the original ones are too small to work correctly with them, i enlarged them about a factor of 1.75. now are much more preciser Orders possible!)
But u will be able to deaktivate the Slideout to have them permanently visible in your Attackperi & UZO.
All that what is now in the Attackperi, i will also put into the UZO!
The Observation Peri will be the old, for Observation.
How i said, i have to rework some TGAs because they are not really sharp.
The nice thing: This Mod is very easy to built in the Game for u :)
And it will be a standalone Version maybe.
I will release this one with my New 6 Gauges Console Mod when all is finished! ;)
Only one Problem/Issue will be: that u have still to go to the F6 Attack Map, to set the Dial for choosing Manual or Automatical Torpedosettings there. But i think thats not sooo dramatic.
(Its because i cannot clone the Button there because he isn`t a dial like those i could clone to built into Peri:()

Awesome. That's about my biggest wish as far as modding dials goes.
Is the 'manual input' switch included in there also? I usually use it on the TDC, mostly for FaT torpedoes.

Did you solved the off set problem into the bearing instrument ?
In the original bearing instrument is imposible to adjust bearing "zero" or 180, the instrument dont let you to do it without to introduce an error, about 1/2 degree at bow, and about 1 1/2 degree at stern.
If you attempt to adjust 180, and you look at the small rotative inner dial into the bearing instrument, that with the red and green number in inverse scales.
It never reach to be adjusted at "zero", may be because the originals instruemnts are so samll.
Dis you solved that problem ?

Yeah it will work all nice....
Known Problems with this Mod:
- The thing with the Toggle function for automatic & manual TDC settings can`t be cloned to get him anywhere else like into Peri or UZO, because it isn`t a dial which i can clone, like the ones i have now added into Peri & Uzo.
U will have to go to TDC Map and set to manual or automatic, or u can set a key for that like me, Shift T will toggle that wherever i am.....
- I deactivated the sound when moving the Val in that dials for Bearing and for AngleonBow, because that clicking sound will be permanent heared in the UZO or Peri when move it to look around....
- I am still not able to get a perfect adjust to Zero or 180 Degree, what Redwine meaned. There is a difference from 1/2 Degree maybe, no way to get it so perfect setted manually like with automatic. But that is really a small and minor problem which isn`t really dramatic because it is really just 0,4 - 0,5 Degree.
- In the Peri there will be a part of the Bearing Dial, laying in the viewing circle of the Peri, there where no Redlight is visible. so this part will not be overlayed of the redlight, like u can see in the Screen down....but that is also a minor Problem i think. we have to live with it.....

- I have made this Mod as a addon for my 6 Dials Mod, with slideout OPfficers and Messages, like u can see at the screenshot down there.
For all other users which are not using that slideout, they will have to toggle their Complete Console away (Numpad Button ,, , ") to acces to those dials like in Peri, UZO and Attackmap.
