View Full Version : 1.03B and 3.0B Mod
Hi,
-Is the Sound VS Speed hotfix included in the 1.03B?
-I know Luftwolf said that it is possible that some problems may occur while playing the stock missions of 1.03B with 3.0B Mod. Anybody tried?
Just want to know before installing the 3.0B
Thank you

The LWAMI Mod greatly expands the Sound Vs. Speed hotfix to make it platform specific, as the stock hotfix is a single modifier which is applied equally to all platforms of the same type.
I have never heard of any problems associated with running any mission for DW using the Mod. The general consensus is that all missions, for single player anyway, are made better by the Mod, even if they have not been specifically designed for it. Now, I'm sure there are some missions that may take a bit longer than using the stock database, but I'm pretty sure that's about the only thing that might occur, as the Mod makes improvements to AI performance across the board.
Ok Excellent!
Thank you Luftwolf
Now those that means that people that are using the combination of 1.01 + 2.03 Mod don't have to put the Sound VS Speed Hotfix?
I am asking because I will probably have a copy with 1.03B and 3.0B Mod and another one that I am installing right now which will have the 1.01 + 2.03. So in this last one should I put the Hotfix or just having the stock one and patching it with 1.01 and the 2.03 will be all right (without putting the Hotfix)
Thank you
LuftWolf,
What other doctrine/database additions should we have after installing your 3.B?
- I know there are 3 or 4 things we can add for the doctrine I think (torpedoes stuff...)
- Dipping sonar of the AI Helico (should we or not)
- Ambient and Interface sounds from Finitless
Anyway, let us know
Thanks

If you have 1.01 and install 2.03, you don't have to worry about the hotfix at all, it is included and expanded in 2.03.
I personally run: LWAMI Mod with the additional doctrine update, Bill's Helo Dipping Doctrine Fix, all of Finiteless stand alone sound mods both interface and ambient, and the small font mod by Kegerty (I can't remember how to spell his name).
I personally think that this is the best configuration, and all of the mods work with both 1.01 and 1.03b, although make sure you grab the right version of LWAMI depending on what DW version you are running, and the doctrine updates work with 2.03 and 3.00b.
I hope this helps!
Thanks LuftWolf,
So you run with 1.03B + 3.0B
or
1.01 + 2.03
Thanks
and BTW, where can I find your 4 additional doctrine updates.
For the Dipping helo fix, do we have to put the helo under ''helo control" or under ''ship control" to be effective?
Thanks again

I run both combinations, depending on who I am playing and what we are doing. I am SOOOO looking forward to the 1.03 Full patch, so I don't have to agree on a version each time I play a game. :-j
The Helo Dipping doctrine is for AI helos only, although I imagine that it would enable dipping behavior for the FFG helo when it is on Helo control, although I *swear* I've seen the helo dip when under human control, but that could be my imagination, as I don't play with the FFG as often as I probably should.
You can get the doctrine updates at the CADC under the 3.00b Mod thread in the mod forum, or at Bill's www.subguru.com site as well!

The doctrine updates can be found either at the CADC : http://www.orionwarrior.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174 or I believe SubGuru has them as well.
Great!
Thanks all for your quick answers!
Last question then:
I have a great video card with the latest driver.
However if I don't have the 1.03B, I still have a flickering screen.
So the install of the 1.01 and the 2.03 on my other computer is kind of annoying because of this.
Do you think there was a code or update just to stop the flickering and stay with the 1.01?
And I don't want to change anything in the setting of my video card if possible.
Thanks

1.03b should fix most if not all of the flickering issues.
You can also run 1.01 in Windowed Mode and try to lower the number of background processes you have running (a program like End It All is useful for that although I have never used it).
Cheers,
David
Ok Great,
But Ihow do you go in Window Mode?
I tried to click on the box in the 3D options window, but it doesn't let me do so? (I can't enable the box)

Your desktop needs to be in 16Bit Color Mode. Only then will DW be able to run windowed. Oh and if you set it for Windowed mode, you have to switch your desktop to 16bit every time you wanna play, otherwise the game wont start.
Cheers
OS
otherwise the game wont start.
Check that again - I seem to remember it merely going back to fullscreen - and me not quite noticing the difference in a while.

I tried multiple times (tho with patch 1.01) - when I forgot that I had the Windowed Mode enabled and tried to start on my usual 32bit setting. You get a popup window telling you that you need to switch to 16bit to start in windowed mode or something like that.
