how do you or would you command your crew if you were in charge of a real life submarine

me personaly;

in no hard arse there will be the discipline but there will be a totaly relaxed atmosphere as i dont enjoy shouting or what not, my crew will be both relaxed capible and ready for action.

my sub would be commanded by the finest sailors but the ship must be clean and tidy top to bottom (i cant stand mess) personell bunks galley toilettes you name it will be clean.

leaniant but fair

Like I ride a motorcycle...exactly.....There is NO second chance,no forgivness for errors,always watch what is going on around you and anticipate what is going to happen next in your surroundings....and most of all enjoy the ride. :)

Send em to the salt mines in Siberia if they screw up.

I'd whip them while yelling, "Row faster!". I'd also have one of those fat guys with a big drum for ramming speed.

I'd have a fat ugly guy called Bubba to put the fear of god into the new recruits, especially if one of them bent over.

Try coming out here to California (SFO), Mr. TLAM. You don't know obsession until you've seen it out here.

And no, I don't mean me. :88)

Well, if they do their jobs and do them well then I'll be lenient on them, but should they consistently f**k up, then, to quote a certain film 'That strange sensation you will have in the seat of your pants, will be my boot up your arse.'

Persistant offenders will be sent to Siberia, or in the RN's case...Milton Keynes.

Anyone who screwed up bad enough would be deported or sent to New Jersey. (A far worse fate than Siberian salt mines.) :lol:

It says enough that the sign on the west side of the Ben Franklin Bridge reads: "Now leaving Pennsylvania. You'll be back."

its all fine and dandy saying your crew will be the finest saliors when in fact they will be human not robots and they will each have there own faults and strengths, leadership is not getting someone to do what u want ,it,s getting them to do what u want because they want to

I’m going to run my sub like a Klingon Bird of Prey. You can get drunk, fight, kill people, raze villages, pirate ships all you want but if you pi$$ me off I vaporize your ass! :arrgh!:

Leadership is the art of influencing in such a manner as to accomplish the mission. Thats the army definition anyway.

If your a good commander you would never have to yell yourself. Your officiers would probably be mature enough to be treated as men and not boys. As far as crew members that still think as "boys", like enlisted men straight out of momma's house..., you could probably leave the yelling to their immediate supervisors if needed.
