View Full Version : The Mod Workshop needs a moderator

All of the current moderators are MIA (martes86, Beery, Tomcat84, Shockwave74).
As of now, IMHO we are too free to run wild. Maybe one of the other moderators/PA Dev Team should be reallocated to this board, perhaps Gizzmoe, Drebbel, or Hitman. Or hire a new moderator if those guys are too busy...
I'll tell ya, someone has got to remove some of those useless stickies... too much junk :yep:

I doubt they'd like me for the job.. Often times, I need to be moderated myself... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey...me too  I would still take the job though.

M'mov ...thinking about it, i dont wish to see you modddddderating the forum; i wish to see you modddding the textures  :rotfl:
but the moderator doesntr really have a lot to do here... move posts if they are unappropriate, and check PMs for foul language warnings by users.
i see on the "hundreds of books to download" topic that we can actually discuss a HOT topic, and not "loose it", stay civilized and get back to the important things
theres too much modding to do anyway :D

i think it's holidays time now, and after new years, it will be a bit more easier for moderators to dedicate more time.

Actually, those guys seem to have been gone for a long time, even before the hollidays rolled around. Beery is off playing other games, while the other three just flat-out disappeared.

So any loyal, thrustworthy, social, relaxed, motivating, smart .......... and crazy people who think the might have what it takes to be a good subsim moderator ?
Sure would help if I can present a list with names to Neal

Before some other people start to nominate me, I'll have to take myself out of the running. I can't see how I could handle modding and moderating at the same time. It wouldn't be easy, and I think people would rather see new skins/textures as opposed to a politically correct board.
But someone else should take the job. Right now, this board seems neglected... Aside from the frequent Drebbel-ism. ;)
And sometimes we are lucky enough to get a Gizzmoe-ism.
I personally would nominate The Avon Lady...

I personally would nominate The Avon Lady...
As long as she promises to edit less than 25% of what I post...

Guys, if you are in any way unhappy with the moderation style of a forum or if you for example think that a certain moderator sucks then you should contact Neal Stevens. A public call for candidates by the members of this site without the knowledge of Neal and the current moderators is not ok, IMO!

Why not? This ain't spam... I'm not saying they suck. They're just never here.
It's a thread like any other thread: a public call for attention. Nothing more, nothing less...
And because personally, I'm not the one who is supposed to waltz up to Neal to ask him for new moderators.... YOU ARE.

It´s not a thread like any other, you are publicy criticizing the four moderators of this forum! You say they are MIA, you say that other moderators should be reallocated, you say "we are too free to run wild". As I said, Neal Stevens, the site admin, is the right contact person!
And because personally, I'm not the one who is supposed to waltz up to Neal to ask him for new moderators.... YOU ARE
Who, me??? I have absolutely nothing to do with that, I´m a simple moderator. I can forward member requests, but it´s not my job to ask him for new moderators.

Well then, contact him for me. Remember,I'm just a lowly member, you are a moderator. He'll listen to you.

You say they are MIA, you say that other moderators should be reallocated, you say "we are too free to run wild".
And btw, none of those are critcisms. Those are legitimate observations.
Just browse the forum and you will notice these things...

Well then, contact him for me.
Drebbel will do that, that´s what he wrote in the "free books" thread.

Well considering Drebbel all but asked for names to give to Neal before you posted the above.

So IMHO we are all good in what is being done.

Ahum, calm down guys.
If moderators have not enough time to read their forums that does NOT, I repeat NOT, mean they are doing a bad job. It just means they have other (probably real life) concerns that are more important or need a lot of time.
Only when a moderator knows he does not have time to do his job for a loooong time and does not inform Neal about it, and kind of disappears in cyberspace, only then, and not a minute sooner, his/her absence can be regarded as sloppiness aka "doing a bad" job. And afaik that is not the case in this modding forum.
That is why I responded in this thread, I simply think it might be necessary to appoint additional moderator(s). So NOT fire any moderators, but hire some additional staff !

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that we should fire anyone... Just appoint some more helpers.
I've already somewhat proven myself as the Mod Team forum moderator, but it's rather dead lately :(
Any chance I could 'graduate' here? I think my reliability and enthusiasm could be vouched for, and as a veteran mod on a whole slew of forums... I've no illusions whatsoever about this duty :)

I'm sorry to have been missing for so long, guys. I've been quite busy since my last mod thread update. Things of the pre-universitary degree. :-?
Expect a mass update for the mod thread in the next upcoming days. :D
Also, if you see any unsuitable behaviour that I don't see, please send me a PM. I always answer. ;)
Cheers, and Merry Xmas.
