Hi all,

I just built a new rig: AMD 4800 X2, 7800gt, Audigy 2 zs plat pro, win XP SP2, 2 gig memory.

My Dangerous Waters is hanging in game. It is like a very long stutter. The screen freezes for several seconds then unlocks and locks again. It is fine for a few seconds and does it again. I'm using the 1.01 patch.

I saw reference to a 1.02 and 1.03 patch but only saw links to a demo.

I just downloade the latest Nvidia and Creative drivers and am using the latest Nforce driver for my MB.

I did not see anything in this forum and my search on "stutter" did not turn anything up. Is this an issue that is known or I my new rig here just hosed for this game. Is it an X2 issue

Any help would be great

Glenn Kenney

Check out www.subguru.com for the 1.03BETA patch (last one available). As for the problem, this sounds like something that happens in conjunction with a 2nd CPU, be it virtual (P4 HT) or real (your X2). Check out the official SCS Forums at : http://www.sonalystscombatsims.com/phpBB/index.php and I'm going to take a look in the old BFC Archives on this issue.

Here are some hopefully helpful threads from the old BFC Forums (the first publisher of DW)
- http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=47;t=000063#000002
- http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=47;t=000001;p=1

Take note that those are archived threads, and BFC is no longer the Publisher for DW so no posting in reply to those threads. But you should definitly visit the official SCS Support Forum and post your problem there.

Thanks, let me take a look.

Sucks when you get the next generation hardware, always seems like one or two of your old favorites just won't work

Well good news and bad news I guess.

It looks like turning off one of the processors works. I did the ALT Tab out and set the affinity to turn off CPU 1 and ran the game for about 10 minutes fine.

So it is fixable. It is just a pain to have to do this each time and you lose the power of the second processor.

Thanks for finding the threads. I can at least play.

One of the threads mentioned a certain program from Microsoft which allows to select the CPU use for any given program. Maybe that is helpful. Oh and did you get the 1.03 Patch yet?
