I'm useing the dc mod that reduces damage radii from dc's to 20m, and am finding that crash-diving on radar-alert means I almost never get successfully dc'd by aircraft. Presumeably aircraft had a "pattern" of various depths preset, is their any chance we can do this, or deepen the standard setting?

could be interesting that the game set the depth charge depending of the time of the spotting and the distance to the submarine.

In case of a close range and a crash dive is logical set the charges in shallow settings whereas a long distance spoting could require a deeper settings or not. depending of the submarine deep.

in radar spottings the plane don“t know exactly where is the sub and is very difficult launch the attack.

seems to be a bit of a limitation of the AI dc drops get made on your exact last known position and depth (which with aircraft is usually on the surface)
instead of where the AI predicts you might be given the amount of time passed before the drop is made--been playing for i don't know how long now and have yet to recieve any damage from airbourne dc drops once submerged--wish the AI would somtimes just "have a go" and drop ahead of you last known position--with half a dozen aircraft all dropping at different depths along your last known course things would get very hot indeed-- the AI is allways the weak spot it seems to me in these sorts of games--it doesn't "think" for itself bowt time the game devs spent some time developing the AI for games-- lets face it that's 80% of the challenge and immersion (once you've gotten past the graphics) to feel that the AI is actually intelligent rather than the same old BOT like automaton

it's the same with the DD's--especailly with long range radar spotting--

a corvette will come chugging over to your last known position (sometimes taking ten minutes to reach it) and DC the heck out of that location with no "thought" given to the fact that you have spent ten minutes submerged travelling away from it-- it's a bit disapointing given that the game understands the whole calculation of course speed predicted location after set amount of time etc--(for the torp calculations) the AI doesn't seem to use the same logic

No they had them set a certain depths and that was that. Initially they were bombs, so they blew up on the surface.

Then they moved to depth charges, the same as the escorts. Which meant a minimum depth of 50 metres (feet?) which was ineffective against a submerging u-boat.

Eventually the airforce got thier own depth charge set to 25 metres (feet?), very effective against a submerging u-boat.

I can get more details etc, but that is the gist of it, and I am tired :D
