I have the DW game, itself. Is the demo any different? Does it have any new patches that are relevant to the game?

The current available DW 1.02 Demo is the same demo as before, just made from the 1.02 Version of DW. Means you can observer some changes made in 1.02 (retail) in the demo. If you have the retail, my suggestion would be to simply wait for the patch and in the meantime enjoy playing with DW 1.01 (+ Hotfix) or DW 1.01 + Lw/Ami Mod.

Since you have the retail game, you already have the two demo missions. They are included with the retail game. However, they will not be 1.02 until the patch is released.
