View Full Version : [MOD] New water pressure effects!
From the readme:
******************
Sound Mod by ICBM, original 'creaks' sample by Alligator
-- WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE? --
This Mod enhances the 'depth' immersion by modifying the Creaks_Level2,3,4 sound effects.
I found that the stock effects where to 'clean' and did not gave me the the idea that there
is water outside my boat.. So I remixed the stock sound with Alligator's 'groaning' sound
and came up with this, a lot more convincing imho.
-- INSTALLATION --
***************Recommendation:*****************
-Delete or backup Creaks_Level1, I found it a bit weird that even at a mear 15m this sound
kicks in..
***********************************************
Use JSGME to install or copy it manually over your SH3, if you do make backups!
Have fun and stay above crush depth.

Cool.
Did you know the original creak effects are used in the RPG game Morrowind?

Nice sounds
I am looking for one of the previous sound that replaced 1 or 2 glass breaking sounds with popping bolts.
Any ideas which one it was?
Saves me dl 300 megs of sounds as I lost my older backups

Really nice sound  Good work and gives more immersion
About sounds at 15m, waterpressure makes hull to make noices. It's not so strange at all.

Heard them in a movie I seen just recently too. Started yelling rip-off at the TV.

Yep, noticed that scene when watching U-571 and though that it would make a nice sig. :) Sorry for the OT! Carry on! ;)

Just did a deep diving run with your mod. Yes it is now -much- more convincing I'm in the 'depths''.
Heck even the Officers looked a bit more worried :stare:
Very nice!

Btw, those loud 'creaks and groans' , they make a lot of noise. In reality, could those noises be picked up while being hunted by enemy DD's, etc. ?

@ ICBM
Although I like your sounds, you should try mixing the alligator with the creaking sounds from IUB. I don't know where oRGy got those creaks from, but they are even more wicked than the stock ones... They seem harmless if you listen to them by themselves, but with the volume cranked up and at 200m, you'll definately wet your pants. :yep:
EDIT: I uploaded the IUB creaks seperately onto rapidshare if you wanna try them:

No no, the movie used the creak sounds of Morrowind. On many ocasions I found out that movies/tv programs use game sounds, especially older games wich have the sounds files uncompressed in one folder, gun/explosion sounds, menu sounds, glass shattering etc...I wonder if' that's legal.. :hmm:
And thx for the IUB sounds marhkimov, Will check them ASAP.

In my sound set I used the DBSM bolts breaking (and swearing) from the movie for the 'Boltz Break' sounds. You can download it at Terrapin's site, then just change the name to one of the glass breaking ones.
On the other hand, with it set for the 'Boltz Break' file I got a real scare the other day when I went down to 170 meters in my VIIb (I'm also using the depth randomizer). When I heard the bolts start going you can bet I headed back up fast! :o
