I noticed two "bugs" that may be associated with the RuB mod.

I intercepted a convoy headed East in the middle of grid AL. The escorts - black swans, I think, were sitting high in the water - props/rudder occasionally visible. I've also run into a swan that was too low in the water (i.e. back deck occasionally going under). Wish I could pass on more detail about the ship, etc.

Second, one of the tankers - a small tanker, had a weird skin. It was made up of light and dark grey rectangles. Was this intended? Looks weird.

Nothing terrible, but it would be nice to see it fixed for the next gen of mod.

btw, I got my first Illustrious yesterday (U-47's 16th patrol). Middle of a stormy night, the carrier takes 3 torps, explodes and goes right under, all hands lost. Angry escorts never detected me.
:arrgh!:

Some else had this problem but I do not know if has anything to do with RuB.

I was the Blaw swan, do a search for it.

That is why I do not mess with floatation values for Uboats or ships. :-?

If this is what I think you are talking about the it is not a graphics bug related to RUB.

Is this what you are seeing

This is a skin made by iambecomelife for his Mid/Late war Merchant Variety Pack. What you are seeing is a camoflagues used by some ships during the war.

Thats what I thought you were describing.

Like I said..nothing to be concerned about..just a texture made that way to represent a camoflague used during the war on ship.

This texture represents disruptive camoflage schemes, which would typically be found only on warships and naval merchant vessels (i.e. fleet oilers, attack cargo ships, and stores ships). AFAIK the paint scheme was not intended to conceal the ship so much as it was to confuse enemies as to the heading. I personally have never had much trouble determining the direction of targets, regardless of what scheme they use.

Because it was so uncommon I may add additional grey schemes to the Merchant Variety Pack's successor in order to reduce encounters with disruptive-patterned ships.

I have to say sir, no offense intended but, I wouldn't miss the above scheme.

I HAD THAT PROBLEM!!!

 lol, yeah it was me and good that im not the only one. Yes it was a problem with the black swan, i posted about it a while ago and it seemed to just be a glitch in the game or something. Not sure if anyone every tested it in the museum to see if there is a bug or not. I remember I checked the manual to see the correct draft for the ship, and then I checked the file with SH3 to see if it matched and it did... with that said, maybe the way its modled or something is wrong how it sits higher in the water, i dont know...

As for the texture problem, I posted about that too. It is infact a skin for the ship, and a picture was shown to me to prove its an actual cammo theme...

As for the black swan, id like to know whats causing that problem cause if you check my post in the general forum with 74 pictures one of them has the black swan in it and you can kinda see it sits higher in the water than it should. I don't use RUB though... so it can't be a problem with the mod.

If you think THAT's ugly you should see some WWI paint schemes. Ships were painted in huge, flourescent checkerboard and striped patterns that stood out like a sore thumb - again, the idea was to confuse the enemy's estimation of heading, and not hide the ship. Interestingly, American ships weren't required to do this. Even after the declaration of war in 1917 they were allowed to sail in civilian colors if the shipping lines wished - with higher insurance rates, though.
