Now Hear This, Now Hear This.

I have bought a dedicated Team Speak server for the use of anyone using DW, or SC. This TS Server is for Users of the VMC Navy Subsim.com and access to it is being provided by myself. You are all welcome to come here at any time for any of your multiplayer matches or just to shoot the breeze. it has a maximum capacity of 32 players. If more slots would be needed i will be willing to purchase more. All are welcome and i look forward to seeing you all.

Server ip: 63.210.246.202:8132

As long as nothing malicious happens this service will remain free of charge and open to all of us here.

Sounds great!

What are the usual times for the VMC's fleet actions? I live in the est zone, GMT -5. I'll be looking for a virtual fleet shortly but being a family guy with 3 kids most of my multiplayer gaming will have to be done on weekends starting round 9 or 10 pm. An occasional weeknight session around those times are ok, but nothing I can make a habit out of.

Thanks!

Tempting,

I'm like a lot of folks though, I'm still waiting for the retail release of DW. In the interim if VMC supports Sub Command I might just answer the call. :)

There may still be members of VMC who play Sub Command, however, I believe that the VMC has largely retired it in favor of Dangerous Waters.

Virtual Military Command has been around for A LONG time, since before Jane's Fleet Command.

The VMC Does still support SC and we still have players who play it as well.

For offline fights, they give you a specific date to turn in the results of your mission. The thing that I liked about VMC is that it's one of the most flexible groups around regarding RL events...like a computer breaking down or family issues. Not to mention the games that are supported!

F/A-18 Janes version
Fleet Command
Sub Command
Dangerous Waters
various first person shooters for tactical ops

and lastly...a great mod to install and play for SC and FC!!! ;) :yep:

Can somebody please explain what is the USMORS mod ?

There are two different USMORS mods.

USMORS-Fleet Command Project - alteration of the database files to reflect RL operations. It's also a proven mod that doesn't produce a CTD or BSOD on w9x systems.

USMORS-Sub Command Project -alteration of the database files also to reflect RL operations.

Sorry this mod is a private release VMC members only :( USMORS is a very hushed organization, and for the people they service its rightly so. The VMC are private testers of USMORS projects, mainly this is due to the fact that Some of our admirals are in charge of USMORS.

I think it is for DW, but only for the members of the vmc if i understood correctly.

 So a prospective VMC doesnt know:-
1. If he gets to use USMORS if he joins ?
2. What the heck it is anyhow ?
3. If he would appreciate using it ?
Mmmm seems a bit Catch 22 'ish to me.

Like some secret society whose name is unmentionable. :dead: :yep: :arrgh!:

USMORS does not by my recollection have a mod released for DW yet. I could be wrong.

There is no "Catch 22" to joining the vmc.

I would appreciate it if the semi negative comments about the VMC/USMORS would cease as re explaining myself about them is becoming quite the annoyance. If you join the vmc you get to use the mod as an official tester.

However after this line of questioning, I'm going to recomend to Charles that we no longer hand the mod out at the door as i am sure that some of you would join the fleet just to get your hands on the mod. Instead im going to recomend it be a reward for continued service.

@LW : I dont think USMORS (http://www.usmors.org/) and MORS (your link) are affiliated with each other, at least not in any official, discerniable way (for me, that is).

The following is the Disclaimer taken right from the USMORS website.

Disclaimer
The United States Military Research Society (USMORS) is in no way affiliated with the US Government or any of its official agencies. Our activities in no way implies any sort of approval, endorsement, or authorization by the US Armed Forces or any other agency of the US Government.

And then there is the statement from the "Home" page (sorry no Header there except USMORS)

USMORS
The mission of the United States Military Operations Research Society is to enhance and expand the quality, availability, and usefulness of military operations research in developing, analyzing, and validating new revolutionary warfighting concerpts by probing potential warfare concepts for the 21st century.

Through a innovative process we provide for rapid turnaround of ideas and fully developed operational concepts in a dynamic manner that contributes directly to major US Dept of Defense programs and operational commands.

And the "About Us" Statement

About Us (USMORS)
USMORS is an independent, all volunteer, think-tank. Originally setup within a few days after the tragic events of Sept 11, 2001. (The USMORS is neither owned nor operated by any agency of the US Government.)

Our Mission.... To enhance and expand the quality, availability, and usefulness of military operations research in developing, analyzing, and validating new revolutionary warfighting concepts ...

Our Profile... as an independent, all volunteer group (of present and former members of the US Armed Forces), USMORS is the ideal clearinghouse for providing the most accurate analysis and solutions to the entire US Defense community...

Our Focus... Changing world conditions and US force levels, structure, and capability demand improvement in the ability to react globally...

Maybe its because I'm not a native speaker (in english), but somehow those three statements dont really match (for me).

Guess there are a few of us lurking outside the VMC harbour considering joining. So flushing is
just part of a recce. An attempt to get an inkling of whats on offer.

 Paranoia about attacks and bashing the water just scares the fishes. ;) Not good for business. :dead:

Just put it down to focused interest - funny that the reaction should be hide the silver, lock up your daughters
and hold on to your 'Precious things' * (League of Gentlemen)
 :rotfl:

Now if I was recruiting badly needed players to swell the ranks, I'd take a very, very different line. :yep:

Guess its a good thing im not here to recruit right now. By all
means if you want to join the VMC then do so its a great group weve always got things going on. But dont join just to use the mod and from the line of comments and questions that are being made is not signifying any interest in the VMC only in the MOD if you on the fence about the VMC then ask questions about it not USMORS. And i will gladly answer them.

You see USMORS is not VMC just as VMC is not USMORS, Not to mention the fact that this is the DW forum and there is no USMORS mod for DW at this time.

So as far as questions about the VMC fire away and ill answer them all night long.

It jsut seems that it would have to be a hell of a coincidence taht all the sudden you claim interest in the VMC after just a few hours ago you were saying some semi negative things about it as an organization

1. If he gets to use USMORS if he joins ?
2. What the heck it is anyhow ?
3. If he would appreciate using it ?

doesnt sound like the statements of a perspective member to me.

Not to mention the fact that some how this topic has gotten way OT. this is supposed to be a place to interest people in using voice coms during MP. That is the reason i am paying for a server so that the DW/SC community can have a place to go and chat/use during missions.
