Is there a way to modify either my starting renown, or my starting sub configuration? I want to start a new career in the Med in 1943 (yes I know death wish) but I don't really feel like scraping along for months just to get enough renown to get the better tower, engines, and batteries that I think should come from the start on my ship.

You have to edit the Basic.cfg file on the cfg folder and found a line called "Academy Bonus Renown" or something like that, and put the renown you want, there could be something called starting renown. Unedited both the starting + the academy ends on 1500 Renown ingame.

This seems to work, good hunting.

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR PC PROFILE NAME \My Documents\SH3\data\cfg open the file called Naval acadamy

normally those exam# read false, change them to true, or do it the long way and beat them

Go into the flotilla.cfg and change the PlayerStartRenown00=500 to what ever value you want.

Now this must be done for the entry that relates to your start. Easiest way would be to change them all and by using replace =500 with =5000
