A pipe dream I know with no SDK, but id like to see a modern mod... wire-guided torps, etc, etc, etc...

Yeah!
With Typhoon class submarines and 688i Los Angeles and Ohio class submarines. With submergable Harpoon missiles and Mk48 ADCAP torpedoes. That should be SWEET.
But remember what the threat of the submarine would be. The destroyers would be way more advanced :D, not to mention the anti submarine aircraft and helicopters... But it would be VERY nice!

Like dangerous waters but with the sh3 graphic engine .. :sunny:
The sdk is absolutely necessary for do the conversion.
the modern subs or surface ships have a lot of complex stations, various sonars, radar, weapons , countermeasures,Tma...,
A very hard work

Someone once said, "Wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first". You would be better off trying to change the graphics in Dangerous Waters than to mod this game into a modern nuclear powered one with missile systems and wire guided torps. I think it would actually be easier and way quicker to hack the Dangerous Waters game since it only has 2 items that need changing - graphics and dynamic campaign. SHIII would need about 50 to 100 things changed minimum to make it a modern day simulator and that would take A) forever and B) cost a fortune to create.
My suggestion is to learn to like what you got! I mean, nobody ever tried to change the original Super Mario Bros. game into Sonic the Hedgehog back in the day. We used to buy a game and love it for what it was! Geez :nope: What's happening to kids these days?
Great saying SubSerpent!
I agree - these days the kids want everything and put no craft into what can be achieved. Imaginations are rotted by TV - it's a shame.

I would like to see a 1950s campaign though with GUPPIES and whatnot and possibly the very first nuclear boat (Nautilus 571) the technology between WWII and then really didn't change much other than homing torpedoes got more reliable, and sonars got better. There were no dramatic changes that would break the game engine like digital sonar analysis.
