Hi guys,

It's done. I release it as small HT update because it have more news than only the help screen. Here the readme:

October 23, 2005
HT 1.46 small update.
===========================

This update have four news on it:

1.The new 'More Useful F1 help Screen' mod with new colors and more three buttons with informations about merchants, warships and uboats measurements for help the targeting process and for tactical info. Mod by Rubini, jaxa and Bladeheart.

2.New Milk_cow_Basic.cfg file which make the Emblems disposable since the beginning of a career and set for spent 14 days in base when changed. This way if you have a favorite Emblem just change twice to get the stock 28 days in base. So, if you want it just rename it to Basic.cfg. If you are using SH3Cmdr, roll back before install the mod and set days in base to 1.
(historically the Emblems were on the uboat before the first patrol, used as a boost for crew morale)

3.Some small tweak on flotilla.cfg file to better fit the grid destinations for Bismarck fate.

4.New color for the small numbers below the dials. A definitive fix for color blind peoples like me!

Bug:
None. But notice that the alignment of the text is not the best. This is because the menu text in SH3 use pixels to calculate spaces.

Many thanks for Bladeheart for the ships/uboat measurement compilation.
Thanks to jaxa for the friend or foe info and great support.
Thanks to Hemisent and Scirè for continuous feedbacks.
A special tanks for JXP for colors info.

It's JSGME ready. Inside you will see two files: one for RUB and the other for stand alone version.

Here a pic. Notice the new color for the small numbers under the dials. I guess that is better for all players, not only for color blind peoples. (the jpg is not so good as in the game)

Great!

How did u get that to work Rubini?

I am searching long for editing new Buttons in F1 Help Screen!

Could u please tell me how u could do it?
I think i have to edit something in menu_1024_768.ini!?

Greetings Sale

P.s.: Your HT 46 is fantastic! :D

Just a quickie to ask Rubini

DO you or anyone else have the skills to remove the buttons on the crew managment screen.

I am refering to the ones on the compartments names that we can double click for fast crew changes.

It would be an absolute fantastic thing for my project if this could be done.

FLB sale U-999,

Yes. It's necessary to mod the menu_1024_768.ini, en_menu.txt and en_help.txt (and the germans files too)

gouldjg,

I guess that "delete" the buttons is not a problem.

I don't think it is really necessary for us to have more help screens, aside from the additional 'resupply info' screen.

gouldjg,

Rubini.

Could you explain how I can do this or what file I should look at.

Better still if you just delete the buttons and host the file, that would be great.

Deleted or deactivated suits me both ways.

Once I get this done, I can start wrapping up a new fatigue and damage model that will not dissapoint people.

Thanks Rubini

p.s. keep up the great work

gouldjg,

I tried to mess with the buttons on the crew management screen but I don't get anything. I only notice that they probably are in the G3F section which have more than 750 entries!!!

Jungman,

Oh, sorry, my mistake. I'm looking for the right mouse button usage (to do a better "go back" in key commands) and put the wrong reference for gouldjg. So, like you correctly indicate the section is G67 which have these ~750 entries!

BladeHeart,

After look for useful info in the wiki manual to be used for F1 help screen mod I notice that perhaps a chart with all the properties of the SH3 uboats would be nice too (range, speed, depth, etc..). And can you BladeHeart compile all these ship info for me? When the text is done in one day the mod will be ready!

Rubini,

In addition to the stock ships, what other ships do you want the details of?

RUB 1.43 increased the draft of the C3 to 12m, whcih since I use RUB will be the stats shown.

Apart from draft and mast height are there any other details you want?

What details do you want for the u-boats and are there any variations made by mods you want included?

Willing to do the work for you, but it is 00:22 hrs here and tomorrow I go away with the wife visiting a relative for a couple of days; therefore the work will be completed but not until the end of the week.

BladeHeart,

I like the chart for uboats numbers (but we will use the text only) that I see on the wiki SH3 manual. For the ships all the numbers that you will like to see in the F1 help screen. After we have the numbers we can discuss if all or only part of them will be used. I think that is important the stock numbers and RUB numbers. And a week is good, don't hurry. This way, with patience, we will get a better final job.

Right guys, I need some help please. :)

Rubini now has details of u-boats, merchants, and warships based on my version of the game which is SH3Cmdr and RUB modified, etc.

What we now want to do is put together files for a stock unmodified game; this is where you come in.

Can people please confirm what ships have been altered or created by the following mods, SH3Cmdr 2.2, RUB 1.4, HT 1.46 and IC. Only potential enemies of Germany are on the list, so obviously german ships were not included.

Currently I believe the altered vessels to be:

Type VIIC
Type VIIC/41
Large Merchant
C3
Transport
Southampton Class Cruiser

Any observations? :hmm:

Thanks
:lurk:

Rubini
10-20-05, 09:16 PM
BladeHeart,
Thanks for the infos. ;)

Some observations:
-I think that tonnage have to be express as a "medium tonnage" because SH3Cmdr randomize them.
-The stock game don't have any new ship. In the HT mod only the Flottenbegleiter DE is new but it's a german unit. So, if necessary it's possible to add some info from the RUB new units for the stock game.

After work with the new HT mod i find a way to add more new 6 - 9 buttons to F1 help screen where we can put all types of text info. So if somebody have ideas on what to put in, this is the time! Here a example in the HT mod:

Would it be possible to have attack screen info i.e. DC timings as per deph,

i.e. sub at 50mtr = DC hit in ?? seconds

Maybe what Depth charges were used per year, and possible escape tactics used i.e. turn rates etc.

You might need to have help with gathering the info so it relates to the game.

BladeHeart

Like the idea of a chart of how far a DC will drop, but am aware that this is another facet that has been tweaked by various mods, so I do not see how we will be able to cover this. :(

:lurk:

I was thinking more about us players timing the DC at certain depths.

We could gather the times for every 50 mtrs.

I would love a quick reference to how long a dc will take to arrive a 200mtrs.

It is me being lazy really

Rubini

gouldjg,

Do you have these info about the DCs? I don't know how to find them...
(Great, great work you and Jungman are doing in the Die Hard mod!)

Rubini.

gouldjg
10-21-05, 08:20 AM
I will start collecting DC timings once current project is done  .

I am stepping aside and letting Junman develop the new damage model. After all he did discover the hull controller and thus deserves the credit for it.

He has helped me loads and therefore I feel we do not need to be a joint project due to times i.e. I am in UK and some hours difference. Damage is great when seeking opinions, previous tests and other info however 1 person should make it and be the damage controller. I think Jungmann has proved himself to be the person for the Job.

If at a later date, I want to make things slightly different I now know what to do.

I have configed my own damage and played with the .zon and the results are great for me at the moment. However I understand that jungman is making this far much better in many different ways i.e. DC etc so I will be using his mod. I hope that a later ship version will be released i.e. 1 hour long battleship duels etc. (it can now be done  )

Bye the way Rubini, your work has been a great benefit to the community and I fully appreciate it.

I just need to fiinish my own projet then I could maybe one day play this game :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:.

Hi guys,
-The new F1 Help Screen mod is already done! Now we have more three buttons: Merchants info, Warships Info and Uboat Info. I will now adjust the text and release the mod in one or two days.

gouldjg,
-I already reserve a space for the DCs info, ok?

I am sure it will be called for at a later date when everyone starts to experience Jungmanns new damage model.

Hell I will want to learn the fall times so I can set my escape, evasion options.

The speed of DC is changeable in game. As now, all use the stock settings. the hedge hogs sink faster IIRC about twice as fast.

One mod using the SH3Commander to install depending upon year the DC fall rate and size. There is a huge thread on this back pages. Never done yet. Early 3 to 5 m/s. middle bigger blst but sank slower 4.2 m/s. Then Mark 9 with lead weight and tear shape, sank 9 m/s with a smaller charge because of lead weight. Fast moving to hit you.

These ASW models need some work , I notice some bad things going on with the HH and sensors. Small correction to do though in the next release. It is the stock game buglet, nothing I did. It will make them deadly as they were in the late years war.

So the regular DC fall at the same rate: 5 m/s. At all depths.

Simple to figure out 200m. Just divide your depth by 5.

200m / 5m per second = 40 seconds.

OT: I would place this factoid. 1 knot = 0.514 m/s. Why? if ship is moving at 10 knots, it will move 5.14 m/s which is nice for setting up a torpedo attack solution. I count the seconds and roughly convert to distance and speed. I can manually set up and hit a ship at 1200 meters moving at say 9 knots AOB 90 degrees very quick just doing the math in my head. Good for nailing a circling attacking DD and you must take a hot shot at it.

Thanks for the info Jungman,

Like I said we have a reserved space for any type of info to the Die hard mod and of course for the DCs in the F1 help Screen mod. If you want or need it just notify me.

Keep up the great work!
(I guess that I already see these words somewhere... :D)

Look there:

JXP,

This is great!
I have some problems with tabulations too. Can you help with this issue?

The first line of the en-help.txt file define the tabulation. But perhaps we can add more columns what will help a lot the text alignment.
Look the first line:

#180 first is the separator character and the number after it represents tab length (in pixels)

Yes,

I know about this, but now I don't know how solving this problem. I tested various separators and values for more tabs. Sorry, but I still think about solving ;).

I checked and gdogghenrikson is correct. Some of the listed controls in the 'F1 help screen' are not present in my controls list.

For example, I can't do this:

# OTHER CONTROLS
`C0xFFFFAAFF`Contact Control`C0x0`

V - Report nearest visual contact
N - Report nearest ship sound contact
B - Report nearest warship sound contact
Shift+N - Follow nearest sound contact
Shift+B - Follow nearest warship sound contact
Shift+H - Hydrophone normal sweep
Shift+R - Estimate range to contact
NumPad 0 - Report depth under keel

These commands only will work with the correct 'Commands_en.cfg' file which are not part of the mod. I guess that each one here have their own modified 'Commands_en.cfg'. My file have all the go backs and a few new shortcuts for my taste. But if someone here really want it I can upload of course. I will fix this asap changing the file link for download. :yep:

If people are installing with the mod enabler, you may find that the problem is one too many folders, i.e 2x New F1 help screen RUB
Just remove the inner folder (the one which when you open it shows the data folder) from the outer and let the mod enabler work on that.

Worked for me and I have RUB, SH3Cmdr, HT and IC installed.

Hope this helps.

Yes, Rubini, I am interested in your shortcut controls... :D

Don't plan on taking that section out of the mod. Instead, you should make it optional for anyone who might want to have it installed. Pehaps add a .txt file so that people can add the necessary lines onto their own Commands_en.cfg.

Those look like some useful shotcuts, by the way... ;)

Rubini, could you post info how to edit menu_1024_768.ini file for use your new F1 help screen?
I use RUb 1.44 and HT, but with edited menu_1024_768.ini from RUb 1.43, because I don't like changed weather report to WO.
I'd like to use menu_1024_768.ini from RUb 1.43 with new F1 help screen.

Hold it a while. I will update with more correct ships info. We (Bladheart and me) found another SH3 bug: the numbers on the recognition manual don't match that numbers on the museum! So a update is needed.
