I just found a relatively strange looking US fleet oiler and had to post a link. Even if no one has time to mod it, I thought I'd post it anyway.

That's quite an interesting stack she's got. I've found as a general rule of thumb that the taller the stack the older the ship - apparently because taller stacks were needed to carry away the soot & cinders from old-fashioned engines. Below I've posted the "India Arrow" (1921) and "British Merit" 1942.

I've had some trouble modeling these funnels with wings3d but I've almost got the hang of it.

There was at least one such ship that was a tanker during WWII, but converted to a Great Lakes bulk carrier afterwards. It is the Lee A. Tregurtha. She still sails the lakes. She even has war ribbons that she earned. More can be found here if you're interested:

Here's a link to the Chiwawa class as they appeared during the war. Good to know that there are still some WW2 ships in operation today.

Several lake ships were sunk during the war, including the Donald Stewart, Trevisa, Magog, and Livingston. All of these four were between 1000-3000 tons, and were sailing under the Canadian or British flags (some were probably sold to the British, as this type of vessel is usually operated by the US and Canada).
