Type XXI blues

is there a way to play the type XXI from the begining with advanced torpedoes and equipment ?

I have found a way to at least get the XXI in 1939 I am working out the kinks and will report back with the procedures so far
as of now I need to get the proper aa guns on the sub which are mysteriously missing. and the crew/dammage screen the tower image is wrong. I have to go do something now but I will give the details asap

I've found the way to get the type XXI in any year and flotilia.
All works without bugs and missing conning towers etc. The patrol areas are assigned automatically. The thorough editing of the Basic.cfg and Flotilia.cfg is needed, no more.

It's a long story....
But I try

At first we need to modify the Basic.cfg
1.Open the file.
2. Use Ctrl F hotkey and enter XXI to find the parameters related to the type XXI sub.
3. Change the Year0=1943 parameter in the [SUBMARINE3] section to Year0=1939. The type XXI is the "third" submarine elsewhere.
4.Find the ;[SUBMARINE_AMMO11];XXI section.
5. Change the NbYears=3 parameter. If we want to use the type XXI from 1939 to 1945 change it from 3 to 7 years. It's really significant!
6.Now we need to specify the type XXI equipment for EACH of 7 years. To do it simply copy this section:

paste this section just befor the original 1943 year section and change the
Year0=1943 string to Year0=1939

Paste the section once more next to the new 1939 year section
and change Year0=1943 string to Year1=1940 string. Repeat this operation for all years. For 1943, 1944 and 1945 years simply change the Year{x} numbers

From Year0=1943 to Year4=1943
From Year1=1944 to Year5=1944
From Year2=1945 to Year6=1945

If you want have the 1945 year equipment in 1939 ;)
copy the 1945 year section instead the 1943 year section.

7. Edit the [CONING_TYPE12] ;XXI/1 section. Simply change Year=1943 to Year=1939. Its all here.
8.Edit the [AMMO_TYPE9];2cm FK C/38 Flakzwiling XXI section. Again change Year=1943 to Year=1939.

We have finished to modify the Basic.cfg.

Now we need to edit the Flotillia.cfg.
1.Open the file.
2.Find the flotilia section you need to edit. For example we want add type XXI to the 1st flotillia which has the Flotilla0=902 id.
3.In the Flotilla0=902 section find the NbUboats0=2 string and change it to NbUboats0=3 string. This is the number of available submarines.
4. Now we need to specify a new third submarine. Find the following strings:

Uboat0_0=0
Uboat0_1=1

5. Add the third string:Uboat0_2=3. Now we have the sub with id=3 (type XXI) as a third submarine of the first flotillia!

6. Repeat this steps for other flotillias if you need. For example for the 2nd Flotillia you need to change this code:

NbUboats1=2
Uboat1_0=1
Uboat1_1=2

to

NbUboats1=3
Uboat1_0=1
Uboat1_1=2
Uboat1_2=3
