Nice work! :)

Have you cloned the unit after every object-change?
Great!!!!!!! :o :o
How do you try to change the second mast? The secret is in the chunk type 4 that control his position. The original is the type 34 , true? I will see that.
Cheers,
Have you cloned the unit after every object-change?
This don't needed it. The unit is ever valid with one clonation, to import a object don't change the id.

hmm, my expierience is, that it is needed to be cloned again.
But ahhhh, i have the solution. It needs to be cloned once again, when importing other ships objects or objects from the orginal, uncloned ship. I have ever used other objects or from the original. That is way, i had to clone after importing or changing objects. I think so.

yes indeed!

(sorry) ;)
So there was a 6Inch dual gun on the "anton"-position and 3 6 Inch Singles aft from 43 - 45? Huh, that is a very powerful destroyer armament! :o
Does the existing 6inch dual gun from Bismarck fit to the type34 model? Unfortunately there is no 6inch Single gun. This is a very common weapon and we don't have it. Anyone can make one? ;)

Great job! Don't be too hard on yourself, since I couldn't even do a gmax tutorial if my life depended on it. :rotfl: BTW, I think that changing the "y" coordinates of an object in Wings3d causes problems, so that could be the reason (if that's what you've been doing).

hm, i haven't experienced these problems.
this is my way:
Open the object with wings-3D and use the move - Y -axis to lower the position of the object. Than save it and import it with pack3d.
You can also move the object in other directions. That is the way, i included the crane. The crane-object uses the position of the top-bridge watch tower from the buckley. When i importet the crane (it is from Type34) it was standing on the bridge. So i had to move it aft and then down. I tried this 5 or 6 times to find the proper position. I worked with screenshots and "guessed" from them how far i have to move the object to fit in the right position.... A little pesky, but ...successful ;)
Edit: ahh, you have to replace an existing object, to fit another funnel. here is the how-to:
- chose an object you want to replace (fpor example: 137_your ship_pl01.obj)
- rename another funnel object into that object-name
- import it and clone the unit
- look ingame, where the new funnel is now standing, make screenshot
- then open the new funnel file with wings-3D and move it as describes above.
- import, cloning - ready :)
try it with recloning!

I was just wondering this myself.
Thanks for showing the difference.
Can the new Modded 36A (M) have a bigger gun up front as shown in those comparison shots? Is it possible?
I believe it's the 15cm L/48 C/36 (5,9").

I started out with a full clone of the Type 34, Then I exported the Cloned Type 36A and imported it into 3D Max 7. I then use the modifer tab and select edit mesh. With the surface tool I flip any polys that are inverted and then select the Element tool and select the entire Mast object. I then move it to where I want it on the Type 36A's hull. I then deselect the modifier tab and delete all unused objects only leaving the modified Mast. I then export it back out of Max and back into the 3D folder as an obj file inside the Type36a folder in the Sea folder. Then with Pack3d I import the New modified Mast back into the Type36a.dat. End resault, no change - Bugger !!!!!!!!!!!
I will be giving it another bash tonight, hopefully we get this sorted.
I have used the Dual 5" Turret from the Somners DD. I know its not a 6" Turret but its in keeping with the same style of Turret as the singel 5" Turret. This is because we dont have any single 6" Guns in a Turret.
Now I could use the Dual 6" Turrets off the Bismark but without a Single 6" Turret to match it kinda looks silly. Its all about compromise and doing the best with what we have. I have run a mission with 1 x Bismark, 1 x Tirpitz, 4 x type34's and 2 x type 36A's V's 1 x KGV, 1 x Revenge, 1`x Nelson, 2 x Didio's , 2 x Fiji's, 8 x Tribal's, 2 x J Class and 2 x Blackswans. Now whilst the Bismark and the Tirpitz are sunk they usually take out all the British capital ships bar the cruiser's, the Cruiser's and DD's usually kill off the Type 34's and the type 36A's usually kill off the Cruiser's and any remaining DD's/DE's. So in retrospect I believe she's pretty damn mean as is :)

The problem is that the XYZ coordinates of the mast are not present on the 3D object, its position is indicated by a file that build all the separate parts into a finished model. Maybe if you add an "anchor" let say put a vertex on it centre of gravity in such way that the stupid file will search a center of it and put the mast on the correct position it can work, its complex, maybe Sansal know where the XYZ coordinates can be placed, a more easy solution.
