Dark_TDC_Screen Mod.

This is a simple mod that darkens the TDC screen F6 by shading the background map
and the TDC dials by 30% in order to facilitate night time vision attacks
and easier on the eye. The map area is a 'clean' version with the smudges
and paper creases removed. Some may prefer to keep them in there. It will affect
the plotting map somewhat in that the smudges and paper creases are removed and
some darkening on the plot map.

Files place StrTactMap.tga into DATA\Menu\Gui.
Files TDC.tga, TDC1.tga, TDC2.tga go into DATA\Menu\Gui\TDC.
Always backup original files.

Great Jungmann! This is a nice addition to your dark crewscreen that works very nice!

By the way JUngmann, I think you have acomplished some very good and important mods for functionality in SH 3.

A good idea would be to make a sort of "modpack" with your creations gathered. I dont mean a huge modpack, but gathered so you can owrview them and choose wich one you want to install. I know you have makde several different versions, for Rub and for stand alone or so. Like Gammel have made for Pascals textures.

I have another cool mod that gives a variable to the FAT and LuT pattern torpedos :P . Right now, the only thing that can be adjusted, in the stock game, is the initial straight run distance. No way to change the second gyro to change the leg lengths or angles.

Well, that is going to change, you will be able to use a 'tight' pattern to nail that one juicy target instead of the stock 'loose' pattern for large area convoy killing. Plus, the defensive stern LuT torpedo to run in a true tight circle to kill off that pesky DD on your tail; so it really does work as advertised. :arrgh!:

Improved FAT Torp Mod

It will make those FAT pattern torps worth their renown and much more deadly.

The stock game does not let you change those other values ASAIK for the second gyro which controls leg length and angle (time to turn).

Plus hopeful a option to shoot it to the left and not always for it to turn to the right side. 50% of the time the ship is going to be coming from the port or starboard side, and the FAT torps are set in stone to only go one direction after intial run out.

:yep: The data is stored in the files and can be changed. I think the devs ran out of time and were not able to complete the second gyro and leg inputs to work.

Looking forward for your Improved FAT mod, never liked the stock version so don't use them.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I hope it worked well on others computers monitors too. Between this Dark crew screen and dark TDC screen mods, it really takes the strain off the eyes!

If is is all good, I place them together into one pack with a detail readme for picking and choosing what you want, and all files changes (some mods use the same files). The majority will not be affected.

As for the Killer_FAT Torpedo :rotfl:

I am geting a setting were I do not care about a convoy attack, so much I want to really nail that one big FAT tanker getting away and the torp missed; then it will circle back quicker (maybe 100 m instead 800m leg) to nail that Tanker in its travel!

The other one was suppose to loop in game for a defense, but it does not work. You must change the run pattern angle to similate that. So hopefully I can have two types, Killer FAT torps for juicy merchant targets, and a true circle running "Fish of Death" Lut Torp as was meant to kill off a DD behind you.

This is not changing the realism, just allowing the gamer to use these two types as stated in an optional way.

Call them the Panther and the Piranha Torp setting variation.

one question about the mod. :oops:

it includes a new map screen,

it replaces the navigation map or only the tdc map ? ... i see that don´t have protractor and i don´t want lost it.

at the moment i darkened my map with the protractor a bit with a paint program. :roll:

The same single map is used for BOTH navigation and TDC map.

No protractor? Let me check on that. :dead:

UPDATE: I checked it in game again. All the tools are still working fine. :D Make sure you are backing up the correct files?

As for the FAT Mod:

There is an article and tool allows you to clone objects. I hope to make buyable Torpedo with a better setting. Or just easier replace the worthless FAT I and II with different versions of settings.

You can chose what you want before a patrol.

I do not know how to make the interface knobs work, it is disabled. :(

I am only changing the hard coded values in the torps DAT and Sim files.

You know you CAN make the second gyro work, pattern angle, leg length. They just do not tell you in the manual.

The FAT can be select for a leg run of 800m or 1600m by clicking on the spot. It cannot be anything in between.

You can also make the FAT turn right 90 or left 270 degrees by clicking on the stupid pattern angle dial. Again nothing else can be in between.

The Lut pattern torps CAN be set to any values of leg lengths, pattern angle, and the second gyro does work. I can make very complicated search patterns even loop to loops.

Too bad they are not available until the later war years.

So no need for this Mod. You can select itms for FAT that were historically correct. You can select 800 or 1600 leg; plus click on second gyro for right 90 degrees, or make it go left portside 270 degree by clicking on that spot.

All this time I never new that.

Anyway one small error in the Falke desrciption. The devs was took it off Uboat.net with the same error word for word verbatim. It claims it "was replaced by the fast and longer range T-5" Zongking. That is not true. The range of the Zongking is shorter at 5.7 km since it moves faster at 24 knots to help catch a DD.

Falke T-4 moves at 20 knots for longer 7.5 km.

How do you take a picture in game?? I never have, then it must be hosted by some site. I must learn how to do it.

As for the "Nomograph" not showing, that is special case. That is a mod of the 'map' file. If you want a custom version, give me a link to that mod so I can darken it too by 30% and it will work for you.

I have this map in my instalation, and i don´t remember where exactly i downloaded the file. could be from subsim.
i darkened a bit the map.

OK that was made by Wazoo. It is a modified StrTacMap.tga that I use also. Original has the dirt smudges and paper folds. I do not know if you want it cleaned up or not, I just took Wazoo's Nomograph map straight from his file and use that one. if you want a clean version with nomograph, please tell me.

I will give you an upload link for this file shaded by 25% to use instead of the one that comes with Dark_TDC Mod which has no nomograph. I never used it.

I must redo my work, I used the Big Nomograph :doh: . I found the Small nomograph. I will make one up custom for you, and others who like to play with nomograph (they had no electronic caclulators back then :shifty: to do it easy -slide rules).

It will have the SMALL Nomograph and have the CLEAN Map.

I wasted three hours making the big versions without knowing it. It will be called Dark_TDC_Nomo Mod.

It is the same Mod, just has the nomograph added to it. I have to repaint the whole thing by hand since I do not have photoshop. Give me a couple of days.

Pics are saved into the SH3 folder by pressing Ctrl + F11.
For image hosting, you have a sticky above this thread with lots and lots of sites to choose, that host files or pics. :D
