I know it's not realy Mod material but I am patterning this model after the game models so...

All I have finished for now is the conning tower. The model is built so I am at painting stage.

Some of you might recognise the logo. I don't like decals so I painted it on.

Actualy, I have intentions to look into it, but I need to educate myself first. Any suggestions where I should start?

What did you use to bore the holes for the water exits of the hull? :hmm:

I'm currently stuck with my Revell 1/72 model (Yours seems to be that one too, right?) at that point...started drilling with a tool but the result is not to my taste...they look too round and not squared :88)

I used a small drill to start and then a flat file to enlarge to the correct shape. I found the drill was a bit dodgy as the plastic tended to melt  It took about 2 weeks (on and off) to complete the holes.

Looks good Totenkopf

If that is the Revell 1:72 VIIC...

I can't wait to get one... as soon as finances allow :shifty:

It is a very big model kit, there is even a 1:72 Flower corvette from the same manufacturer :yep:

Hmmm... I think that I wouldn't be able to help you with that. But hey, sure someone is glad to show you. Good 3D modellers will be needed soon, thanks to Sansal's tool. :D

I also have the Revell kit and am at the pre-assembly stage: I am using a Dremel on the reverse side of the component (at low speed using a round and onion-shaped tools to open the flooding holes and finishing off with diamond files. Time consuming but worth it. I am considering a working r/c conversion of the sub if I can create a workable watertight cylinder to contain the electrical/electronic components. A similar solution to that used in the 1/40 scale r/c VIIIB but on a smaller scale (excuse the pun.... :rotfl: ) Early days but there are some superb miniature servos and so forth..

Looking good! Post some pics after painting.

Here's mine completed earlier this year.

That model had to be the most fun I've had building a model. Very easy construction, big pieces, no clear plastic pieces, simple paint scheme, and only 2 decals :)

It was so much fun I've thought about building a second, but I have no place to put it.

Actualy, I am not drilling the holes, just painting them black. I hear there is an upgrade Revell is talking about doing for this kit that includes the pressure hull and figures. I may have to get another one for such detail...

Thanks Ted! Yours looks awesome! I am going for a basic grey and army green motif but I have found a nice rusty red I am using for rusting. That should break up the manotony.

As soon as it's finished I will port it in the game ;)

There are some 3rd party detail sets that you can get for the 1/72nd scale model. They're a bit pricey, but supposedly they add a lot to the model. I've been considering building this kit for a while, but I haven't got my courage up yet - it's been a while since I built a serious model kit.

Yeah, I saw those. Copper sheets with railings and a few missing items plus deck plates. :hmm: Extras aside, I am supprised at a few missing items not included with the kit itself... such as the UZO binocs and attack scope post compas etc. Little details but it does add to the whole. I should get her built and painted first tho or I will be waiting forever to finish her. :D She is completely worth it Beery!
