View Full Version : Vaguer Hull Integrity

I recently started using mods that hid my hull integrity indicator. That seemed fine... it always seemed a little bit too gamey to me.

Fast forward to my most recent patrol. I've been heavily depth-charged twice, both times sustaining damage in multiple compartments. One of those attacks involved minor to moderate flooding that I brought under control.

I've also been hit once by aircraft. Two compartments received damage that was quickly fixed.

So now I'm about to attack again ... and don't really have much of an idea as to the state of my boat. I don't find this particularly realistic either since I can't do in SH3 what a real captain could do ... walk around and inspect the hull, see where things are bent, rivets are popped out, or find signs of tiny leaks, etc.

So I think we should get SOME SORT of indicator as to the shape of our boat.

Is hull integrity moddable so that you can see it, but only a vague range? e.g. it says either 'critical', 'fair', or 'good'.

Good question. I don't know the answer, but I agree that a vague integrity indicator would be nice.

Hi guys,

I agree on the matter as well. If the devs would've put in a feature to ask or receive damage reports from various stations on the boat, during and after an attack, that would sure help when I want to dive deeper to elude DDs and DC and give me a margin of certainty (in my mind) that I could do it without losing my boat.

The damage model that is used is kinda useless because the repair times aren't realistic (imo) and many times gets repaired so fast I can't click on all the compartment to see whats reported as being damaged and determine how that could affect the hulls integrity to withstand greater pressure when I most likely need and want to dive deeper.

A system like Heffalump suggested would fit the bill nicely.

Can you change the percentage to just say good, fair, poor, critical for different ranges of percents?

Nice if it can be modded but sounds like we lucked out again without that supposed SDK from Ubisoft.

Happy hunting!
