The triangles in the back of there head looks pathetic. Help.

That is really annoying. I just notice it on the Bridge.

Also, what about a mod to put the medals in the proper places.

I don't know about a mod, but I just keep putting different crewmen up there till I find a complete watch crew that doesn't have them, then I always use them for the rest of the patrol - those triangles really do look stupid and definitely detract from the immersion big time.

Try with Pascal's Mod

You are going to notice the difference.

Dumb question but what triangles? I've never noticed anything like that, but maybe my immersion is just too deep to see it ;) After I saw this thread, I went and looked and still couldn't see it...

Only thing about the watch crew that annoys me and ruins immersion is when the weather turns crappy, they're still up there in jackets & caps - no rain gear in sight :( I fix that by submerging then surfacing, only then do they put on the rain gear!

That's because they're not allowed to leave their post :know:

You don't have to fully submerge, just hit P then S and it should be long enough for them to change if you want them to.

I haven't seen these 'triangles' either, unless you mean their hair clipping their neck?

You dont have to submerg. Just go to the crew screen, take the watch crew down and back up one by one and they will have their rain gear on.

Regarding the triangls on the backs of the crew heads that show up at certain angles.... Pascal looked into fixing it but couldn't. LOL, he referred to it as another one of those things "Ubibugs" left undone.

I believe it is another one of those things that may require the SDK to fix it.

For the life of me I had never noticed so called triangles ( also I don't really pay that much attention to the back of a guys head..........woman yes. ;) ) before this thread so I looked.

Here are the two of the watch, the CE and his three guys, the SO and the RO. Did not get the the Weapons Officer and the Nav. nor the Watch Officer and two on deck but their allmost all alike except maybe the one standing next to the dive plane guys. ( What is he doing anyway besides opening and closing valves ? ) for his nape does look different.

Don't think there really is needed a mod here.

A barber mod in the works?

LOL - I sometimes get hair loss on the crew and graying

Maybe I push 'em too hard....

Christ is that it! thanks for the pics, but your right theres no need for a mod. I can't see what the problem is. Some commanders are just to much of perfectionist!

Now maybe a mod with all my crew members with mohawks might be cool

Regarding Gammel pic - I too have seen this artifact, is it our vid cards or a settings issue?

Actually what it is, the dude has been tearing his hair out because he hasn't sighted a C3 all week and Herr Kalun is coming down on him hard ;)

I think I saw the same thing tonight down in con, but I was under heavy attack by a few Sunderlands and didn't have time to pay attention to it. Anyway about video card, I'm running a Radeon 9800XT. Don't know anything about it but I imagine it's a clipping issue - from some angles, the head clips thru the hair texture is my guess.

At any rate, my crew can wear their hair any way they want - I spent a LOT of time arguing with my father in the early '70's that it don't matter how long a guy wears his hair as long as it's clean and neat. So I should put my money where my mouth is, my crew can have all the triangles they want as long as they wash it regularly (in bilge water, if need be :arrgh!: ) and keep the triangles neatly combed!

Great Clips?

:-j The call for a Barber/Stylist goes out across to the Kriegsmarine for a decent one.....;)

Running a x800xt PE here...drivers or just an ATi thing maybe?

How about the Nvidia guys (gals too Avon Lady!) any of you getting these "clipped" hairdos?

I'm on A new nVidia card and see it too. I thought it was just their hair being modeled badly and clipping their head. It's anoying but I don't really notice it.

I do exactly the same.
When I start a new carrer, I take note of the names of the crew that are going to be in visible "spots" (bridge, control room, hydrophon, radar) and I "select" the crew with a "normal" head.
Then I gave these men priority when I assign a new medal-promotion-qualification, till they do not need to rest anymore, and they can stay at their stations without becoming fatigued.
I make sure, also, to choose different men, just for eyecandy, so when I'm in the conning tower I can see a blond guy, a brown hair one, one with the cap.....so they just don't look all clones :D .
By the way: as the problem seems to occur only for few crewman, and not all of them, it can't be, in my opinion, a graphic problem related to a particular graphic card.....

Would removing the head04 model from the game work? I've thought about trying that but hadn't gotten around to giving it a test.

Are random selections for the crew's heads done at the beginning of each patrol, each time they go on watch or each time a career starts?

Another option might be to delete the head04 model and copy then rename one of the other models to head04.

What a bunch of nitpickers, next thing you'll be checking for dirt under their fingernails.

And probably their toenails also. :rotfl:

I think i got rid of the triangles by substituting another seaman . I deleted the folder head04 and then i copyed the head03 folder and called that head04 . Then i renamed the the 2 tga files and 1 dat file the same as what they were originally in head04. Does that make sense.

I tried that gleano but SH3 kept crashing on me while loading a mission. I only tried to load the gunnery academy mission.

Does it load a career successfully with the change?

Another option would be to edit the crew career files to replace crew with head04 with another head.

You have to make the changes while in port .
