looks very good, tankeriv!
does it have any side effect on the landscape textures as well?
I`ve read some of the ocean floor textures are shared with the landscape ones...
maybe you´d like to upload it on Rapidshare:
http://rapidshare.de/
and of course at the sh3 all-in-one store ;)
http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/
:o :o :o
Those are awsome looking screenshots..I want this mod.
And as for hosting the mod..upload it here to the Wal Mart of Silent Hunter III mods.

It is shared with some land scapes as well yes.
But it rather looks like rocks with foliage.
So no big deal. :)

I'm sure I'm going to see fish darting in and out of those rocks. :-j

rgr...I and others prefer 7z, because it compresses most filetypes much better than other compressors - and that's important if you host hundreds of files consuming monthly bandwidth in the terabyte range. In fact, I'd appreciate all files uploaded to my server to be in 7z format...I don't have the time to convert them all.

It doesn't work with winrar
Yes it does. Download and install the most recent WinRAR version (http://www.rarlabs.com/). It automatically handles 7Z type files.
I use WinRAR to handle everything - ZIP's, 7Zs and RARs, of course!

great work! thx!
Sweet mod...only issue is that while I was trying to un-do the crude oil type water in another mod, I tinkered with the cfg file in the env folder. Could someone simply post the two numbers in the file behind "seatypeimagedimX" and "seatypeimagedimY". I hate to ask, but I really want to see this mod from ALL sides! I have learned my lesson on backing up files! :stare:

Please upload it once in a ZIP or RAR on Rapidshare.de!

excelent mod! that was the last detail in the game that needed to be moded , I have changed the water to default SH3-water just to see the effect! and it works good with my terrain-mod.
Yes, I also don't notice nothing important with the landscape texture!
But I notice a drop in my FPS in some harbours (with HT mod). Someone have notice this too?
Rubini.
kriller2
09-13-05, 10:04 AM
yes I allso noticed that. I think it's because of the file is big (4096 x 4096 px..). But it's only in the begining of the game after that the texture is cached on the harddisk.
Thanks Kriller2,
I will try it again. But I don't remember to see my FPS better again just a few minutes after the game start...
(and thanks for you great terrain mod!)
Rubini.
As the texture is 4096*4096, most video cards will struggle unless they have 256mb of memory.
Yes, I have a old Ati 9700 128MB...

Mein lieber Sale,
Du bist der erste, der sich angenervt äußert....mal abgesehen von den netten Leuten im deutschen SH3-Forum, die auf Ihren 'eigenen' Seiten Files von meinen oder SubSim's Servern hotlinken.

I also noticed a good drop in frame rates...My game suddenly started to jump pretty good in harbors and even out in the open ocean.
I had to open the files in Photoshop and resize them to 2048x2048...4096x4096 is simply way to big and a bit of overkill.

I think you should have about three sizes.
1 4096x4096 for 256Mb cards
2 2048 x 2048 for 128Mb cards
3 1024 x 1024 for 64Mb cards
I'll make a second zip with the 1024x1024 texture sizes as well.
Oh, great, great! :sunny:
Where I download them?
Rubini.
The files are uploading to terrapins site now.
I dont know if you can fix a slight error in one of the readme files terrapin.
When I created the zip for the 1024x1024 textures I forgot to redo the readme to state they are 1024x1024.The readme still reads 2048x2048.Thanks.

Hi Terrapin!
Wollte neimanden verärgern hier und böse Luft schüren... :rotfl:
In diesem Sinne, nichts für ungut Terrapin.

Perhaps the Ati cards don't manage these big textures very well!? :hmm:
But I still notice some FPS down (even with 1024x1024 size), mainly when the interface (Dials, messages and officestations) are on. When I disable it with the numpad DEL my FPS ups again... Any idea?

Hey, I don't think it's a big problem, as we have now 3 different versions available....I'm running the small textures, but if you don't have any problems with the big ones there's no reason to worry about anything...IMHO :)

TankerIV, as far as I can tell, has disappeared from the community. After releasing his sea floor mod and announcing his (beautiful looking) torpedo mod, he... disappeared! He hasn't posted since. I sent him two PM's, both unanswered.

I would sure love to get my hands on those torpedo textures. They are ten times better then anything else out there. I love the metallic coloring in that one shot with the black/gold.
Anyone find them or did he never release them? :(
He never released them. His Sea Floor Mod can be found at Terrapin's site in the skins section. Tankeriv disappeared after a somewhat heated discusion with another member here, so I doubt we will ever see his torpedo textures.

Well, somebody could use that one screenshot for a model to go on with the black/gold metallic torpedos. Not exactly like it's stealing, if he's not going to make anymore torpedo mods. Anyone?
I don't have the skills for it, or I'd do it myself, sadly. :(

Most mods for SHIII are downloadable from the downloads section of this website: http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/
I have 3 sets of torpedo mods. Not sure if 2 of them are from Tanker or not... there's no name in the readme. One has sikkboy tho.
If I remember right I had Tanker's torp mod that showed copper, green, red and maybe black textures. Is that the one? I can't find it yet.. but I'll keep looking. It is possible tho I deleted the zipfile by mistake.
And if I remember right, I got his from rapidshare. If it's possible to go thru their files somehow they might be found.... again.

TankerIV never released his torpedo skins publicly, but if you PM him you may be able to see them. Thats the only way to get them at the moment.
W-L, right now I don't remember. I thought he'd given them out. Must be the 2 unnamed ones I have are from someone else's then. Possibly Marhkimov's torps.
