Why is it when i am hovering and dipping and have no waypoints setup that i hear a minute later that i have lost my dipping sonar and my Helo is moving away from where i was at such a speed to cause the loss of the DS?

Thanx

Wind blew you away?

In windy missions, when sonar-dipping, I always take care to orient my helo so as to be blown by the wind as little as possible.

I've had occasions where my chopper has, despite my order to stop, started moving again. Or more commonly, trying to achieve a far higher speed than allowable when trailing the dipper. This despite my repeating the speed order to have it hover/slow down. The way to 'fix' this was setting another speed then quickly set it back. This may have been fixed in 1.01 though, I can't say for sure I've seen it afterwards.

That is effect of the wind. It will be minimized if you point your chopper's nose towards the direction from which the wind is blowing.

It's happened in crosswind, always forward, tilting the nose down as in "deliberately accelerating". If you press '0' you stop completely relative to ground, regardless of wind - or you're supposed to. What I was speaking of is that sometimes it keeps or remakes a speed order different from what is ordered, and pressing the stop button again won't help. You then have to enter another speed order and then the one you want.

I haven't seen much effect of wind at all. Not to say the effects doesn't exist, but that except for extreme conditions (storms), the effects can be disregarded as causes for most things. (perhaps not including moored ships, since most missions specifies no wind around those)
