I want to start the game in the XXI

how do i accomplish this?

ive played through the game 3 times now, have had my fun... now for a goof, i want the XXI from the get go just to play..


what do I edit so that it replaces the type 2a to start with?

I found a way to do this somewhere on one of the message boards. Basically, you start a career in Bergen, save it, then configure the game to give you a later date and enough renoun to buy a XXI. It worked for me...gave me a chance to try a patrol in a XXI. These are the instructions I used:

Fast warp... "cheat"

Documents->sh3->data->cfg->Careers->"name"->patrols_0

Open patrols_0.txt and scroll down to the last patrol entry, edit startyear to 1944 and startmonth to 4, plus edit renown as well since a type XXI cost 30.000... save and exit.

Start game, load last "before mission" save and you should be good to go!

actually i just openedn the basic.cfg file and changed the XXIs start time from 44 to 39 and i bought it (by doing the renown cheat of course)

only problem is you gotta go do the same for all the sensors it uses aswell or else its totally blind and a destroyer will rape you while snorkeling it and youwont know hes there till he pings ya in da butt..
