Hello,
that is my question - after installing Rub 143 and the 1.43 patch (is this the correct installation ?) i wanted to get the water transparency back, so i copied the three environment files via JSGME to the correct positions after installing the Rub mod. Murky water is still there, so is there a restriction in it in a way you are not able to change it any more ?
(I know this 100 m transpareny is not realistic, just coming back from the baltic sea you can see for 10 metres on a clear day, mostly the range is much smaller.)

The UnReal UBoat mod (http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=39445) contains a mini-mod folder that restores SH3's default water files after you've installed RUb.

Hello Avon Lady,
well thanks, but i want the real thing just without the murkey water - sometimes. It is better to take screenshots with translucent water. If i want to play 100% i turn off the exterior cam completely.
I wonder what has changed in the new mod that will prevent copying the three environment files - or does this mod work with another kind of file ?
Thanks and greetings,
Catfish

If I'm not mistaken (been known to be quite often) RUb1.43 uses a slightly different method for murkiness other than merely adjusting the ENV colors. I believe the fog level has been adjusted in scene.dat. I haven't checked yet so I don't know if UnRUb takes that into account.

Then again I may just be completely wrong. :88)

You also must replace the "scene.dat" file found just inside the "data" folder.

I recommend Capt. America's water mod "scene.dat" with kriller's water mod "env" files for a medium amount of murkiness that is still "photogenic."

You're right. The new water in RUb doesn't use the env colours at all for murkiness. All you have to do to get rid of the murk is to change scene.dat back to the stock version. This means that you can have the RUb underwater colours AND have it be perfectly clear, or, by removing the env files you can have the stock water with RUb murk.
