View Full Version : Edit:How to mod convoyreports to be more realistic?

Hello!
When I get a radireport on a convoy, my timecompression doesn't change. I have put the setting for radioreport to 1 in Main.cfg but TC only drops to 1 when I get a "normal" radio message. Not for convoys or taskforces.

Does anyone of you modders know how to fix this? Please!

It's very annoying, I always loose valuable time for intercept. It seems that more than I have the same problem.

Look this thread for background info:

BUMP!

I got a convoyreport about 230 km from my sub! TC did NOT drop! Is this to consider it to be to far distance for TC should drop??

At flank speed I have about 7-8 hours to intercept! This is not far to my mind!

Where is the settings for this? Has someone else any values for what is "normal" or not?

I really want to solve this!

BUMP again..!
Is there any modder that can make TC drop when a convoy is reported?

Now I have done some more testings!

Last patrol TC dropped from a convoyreport. Distance close, 53 km!

That means it has to be some value somewhere that trigger the TC!

I think the game would be much better and far more realistic if this could be fixed in some way. (TC drops if convoy reports appears from longer distance than 50 km, and a voice telling me there is a message)

Question is where this value is??? Probably need some hexediting and there I'm lost

I ask again if there is some good modder that can fix this? It can't be impossible?

I know what you're looking for as I read about it in passing, but I don't remember what it is.

There is, I think, a distance value somewhere that defines whether a radio contact is worthy of a time compression reduction. I'm not 100% sure, but I am somewhat certain I noticed such an option in one of the text configuration files, somewhere.

Anyone remember what setting it is?

I hope you can remember it :lol:

I just got TC to drop from a convoy report of 73 km. So the value for trigger TC must be somewhere between 75 and 230 km!

Salute! Kpt. Rulle34,

I think I might have found something relevant info in Data/Cfg/Main....

once in the "Main" folder click your toolbar's "Edit" then "Find" then type in "Time Compression."

There is a set of values there that appear to be the level of time compression you are dropped to for certain events. Here is the unchanged data.

Sorry I haven't been able to find anything further yet. :shifty:

[TIME COMPRESSION]
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=4
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=2
CharacterAnim=4
EnemyDetected=8
RadioReport=8
Particles=8
PrayState=8
HunterState=32
3DRender=32
Maximum=1024

Thank's for help Kpt. Lehmann, but I have tried this and it didn't make any change for this :cry:

The value for setting the distance for TC to drop when a convoy is reported must be somewhere else.

:hmm:

How about the settings in Data/Campaigns/Campaign/messages_en

that look like this:
#Date (Begin Transmision) Time (Begin Transmision) Date (End Transmision) Time (End Transmision) "Message Type ( 0 = transmit once , 1 = transmit until received )" Probability (%) Retransmision Interval (minutes) @FROM@ ^TO^

Each message has set values for transmission probability.
It could be that each contact message must have its probability percentage settings altered/lowered so that you are "usually" closer when you are dropped from TC.

I think that my above post just might be what Jasonb885 is referring to.

These are scripted messages and refer to the settings in Main.cfg I guess. The convoy reports should spawn from the dynamic campaign and probably have another trigger somewhere. Maybe in campaign.RND.mis

Someone know what this values mean (marked yellow):

[RndGroup 518]
GroupName=ArticOcean_40_001
Category=0
CommandEntry=0
Long=4800050.000000
Lat=7790400.000000
Height=0.000000
DelayMin=60
DelayMinInterv=4380
SpawnProbability=20
RandStartRadius=0.000000
ReportPosMin=5760
ReportPosProbability=10
Heading=299.721008
Speed=9.000000
ColumnsNo=1
Spacing=500
DeleteOnLastWaypoint=true
CurrentInstanceID=0
GameEntryDate=19400411
GameEntryTime=100
GameExitDate=19411220
GameExitTime=0
NextWP=0

Thank's Kpt. Lehmann for your help. It's nice to see a supporting hand with this!

I just got TC to drop from a convoy report of 73 km. So the value for trigger TC must be somewhere between 75 and 230 km!
Didn't we dicuss this already in another thread? :hmm:

Anyway, I saw a contact yesterday while playing at 135 km and there was no Time Compression drop.
So, we can narrow our range to between 75 and 135 km for the TC drop transition point.
A few more data points and we'll hone in on the answer. It's probably 75, 100, or 125 km.
Unfortunately, to change this value, it looks like someone will have to use a hex editor.

Hello Sawdust!
Yes,this has been discussed in another thread. I was adviced to open a new thread, because the subject changed from the original headline.

I think you are right in your opinion. I just wonder what file this value is set?
