Hello!
I wonder if someone knows what these lines in My Documents\SH3\data\cfg "Main.cfg" means:

[TIME COMPRESSION]
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=32
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=2
CharacterAnim=4
EnemyDetected=1
RadioReport=1
Particles=8
PrayState=8
HunterState=32
3DRender=32
Maximum=2048

Next question: Is it "hunterstate" you should change to 1 if you want TC go down to 1 when a radio reort of a convoy comes?

Hi!

I believe "PrayState" gives the maximum time compression when the U-boat is the prey, i.e., when it is being stalked or attacked; "HunterState" is the max time compression when the U-boat is stalking or attacking a ship that isn't an ASW vessel; and "3DRender" is the maximum time compression at which 3D Rendering takes place.

I would guess that "Particles" is the maximum time compression at which you see animated particles (sea spray, smoke) but I'm not sure.

Thanks Pablo :up:
Sounds very logic to me!

But I still wonder what value I should change to get TC to drop to 1 when I recieve a convoy radio report :hmm:

That´s "RadioReport". It´s already set to 1 on your system, so it should work.

Thats was my first thought, but it doesn't work at all. Just for "normal" radio messages TC drops to 1. I always loose about 45 minutes before I shut down TC to 1 when I see a convoy on the map! So my calculations must be with convoy about 45 min to 1 hour in "advance" for intercept point

Does it work for you?

Maybe I have to change both Main.cfg? (in data\cfg) Will try and see if that works!

I could swear that it does, but maybe I´m wrong. I´ll try it...

Hmmm, as far as I know the main.cfg that's predestined to your My Documents after you create a new profile relates directly to that career. The main.cfg in the actual game directory relates to the template that's created for a new profile. I altered both of them, and it always works for me. :hmm:

Now I have checked for sure. My TC doesn't drop anything at all when I get a radioreport on a convoy !!! When I get a normal radiomessage TC drops to 1 as I have changed it in Main.cfg.

Can someone help me with what I should do to reduce my TC when I get a radiomessage about a convoy :huh:

This is my main.cfg in My documents\SH3 (Have the same values in data\CFG also)

Gizzmoe! Have you tried it out? Because iambecomelife seems to have the same problem?
Maybe the game is like this??
Anyone else have some experience and if so maybe some modder can make a fix for this? This is really annoying! :damn:

Then it sounds more like a bug in the game!

Is there anyone who knows a fix/mod for this?

Maybe I'll put this as a new thread instead!

I've noticed that TC will drop for radio contact reports only if the contact is nearby. Maybe you can play with the setting in the contacts.cfg file to make more radio contacts considered short range?

rulle34

Thats interesting!
1.What distance have you used?
2. Does your TC drop when you get a convoy report?

Maybe I wasn´t wrong after all... :hmm: I´ve got a convoy report, it was 500 km away and it didn´t jump back to 1x, I will test it again with nearby single ships.

Maybe there is some setting issue in Contacts.cfg??

Can someone plese give me the values you use in that file if your TC drops when you get a convoyreport

Gizzmoe

Yeah, I knew it worked! :) I´ve just got a single ship contact 45km away and it dropped to 1x. Standard 1.4 contacts.cfg.

Gizzmoe! So mean it depends on the distance if TC drops or not? Long distance - no TC drop, short distance - TC drops? Is that right?

I use Rub 1.43 contacts.cfg!

edit: Just checked the differences;

Rub 1.43 -- Vanilla 1.4b
Small Contact Min Size=3 Small Contact Min Size=2
Medium Contact Min Size=7 Medium Contact Min Size=5

I can't believe that this difference can be the reason. I must have done something else.

It seems so.

These values only specify if a convoy shows up on the map as Small, Medium or Large.

Just tried it!
I got a convoyreport about 230 km from my sub! TC did NOT drop! Is this to consider it to be to far distance for TC should drop??

At flank speed I have about 7-8 hours to intercept! This is not far to my mind!

Where is the settings for this? Has someone else any values for what is "normal" or not?

I really want to solve this!

When playing today with normal patch 1.4b, I got a single ship contact (it was a friendly, German ship) at approx 75 km and my TC dropped. So, the TC drop is in effect out to at least that distance.

My TC drops to 8x, I guess that is the default value that you guys have changed to 1x.

I guess it must be some value that makes TC drop to the value it's set for in Main.cfg.
I just wonder where you can change this and at what point does it change the TC and not. :hmm:

I think that a distance at 200 km is fully reachable, and with a TC set for 1024 (or even 2048) I loose lots of valuable time before I can manually set TC to 1. Often about 1 hour!!! :huh:

Its difficult to make some test, because if I create a mission I dont get this reports, otherwise it could have been easy to see at what distance it affects the TC!

I hope someone can help me out with this!

TC don't drop when receiving in-game radio messages from BdU (only scripted ones like in the radiolog mod).

TC drops when you get those single ship opportunity reports with no accompanied radio messages. Quite strange, but I've noticed this some time ago.

Anyway I've never seen it as a problem, as the few seconds it takes you to stop TC manually after receiving the convoy report doesn't really matter.

Unless you leave the game unattended while running on TC though, which I don't. :ping:

So you mean it should be like that in the game? TC drop when single ship occur and TC will NOT drop for a convoy report??? I don't doubt the fact thet you are right, but it seems very unlogic to me! Is there any way of modding this?

I prefer it would be like this:

No matter if it's a regular message from BdU or a singel ship report or a report of a convoy, the TC should drop to the setting you have in Main.cfg, and the voice for "New_message_received" should start.

At least TC should drop for a convoy report!

Is this possible to mod?

Now I have done some more testings!

Last patrol TC dropped from a convoyreport. Distance close, 53 km!

That means it has to be some value somewhere that trigger the TC! :yep:

Question is where this value is??? Probably need some hexediting and there I'm lost :damn:

I ask again if there is some good modder that can fix this? It can't be impossible?

Why is this TC thing such a problem for you? I agree with what Nopileo wrote: "Anyway I've never seen it as a problem, as the few seconds it takes you to stop TC manually after receiving the convoy report doesn't really matter."

Problem?
Of course the game can be played as it is. But I just think that this is an issue that could be fixed so the game improves. Many thing that have been modded in this game could have been done as it was from the beginning. Modding here is about better graficstextures, but also about gameplay and realistic things.

I just think the game is alittle bit unlogic, because the most important message - convoy report - behaving like it was some low priority message. Besides, if I i.e I am not completely observant at the moment the convcoy appears on the map, I loose lots of time! I mean it could just be a small thing that looking at a papercopy of printed map etc.

I think the game would be much better and far more realistic if this could be fixed in some way. (TC drops if convoy reports appears from longer distance than 50 km, and a voice telling me there is a message)

But if my post is considering to be bugging and nobody except me thinks this could be something to fix, of course I will drop this!

I mean, I wouldn´t complain if somebody fixes that, but as I said, it doesn´t trouble me at all.

If you really what to see this fixed I think it would be a good idea to open a new thread and post your exact findings. If nobody replies "Bump" the thread until somebody does. :)

I did http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=41669
but for now the most interesting thing in this forum is the neverending debate about this Rub deckgun!!! :damn:

I think there is 2-3 threads at the same time about this DG :down:

And the responds seemed to end up in that thread anyway, so I just stucked to this one. Will maybe make another attemt! Thanks for the tip anyway
