View Full Version : "Buying crew" In SH3Comm

In the basic SH3 one purchases crew with renown; in SH3Comm one can create crew and allocate qualifications.

What I wish, is to seek views on the following:

If an unskilled Chief Warrant Officer is worth 200 renown, a Senior Warrant Officer 150 renown and a Warrant Officer 0 renown, how much more would one cost with a qualification?

For example how much should a warrant officer cost with the medic skill?

Also, how does one alter the renown value of a character; I want to be able to tweak the renown to reflect the "purchasing" of a skilled crewman.

Submitted for due consideration. :hmm:

Bumped because I've added a second question.

I'd say that a warrant officer with medic skill should be worth 0 renown. Not only because he's a mere WO but also because the medic qualification isn't very useful.

Ok,

I see what you are saying though I am sure I agree with you; how about a warrant officer with a machinist, torpedo or radio qualification?

I'd guess that a qualification should add maybe 50 points to the cost of any WO rank.

IE a qualififed CWO should go for 250, an SWO, 200, a WO, 50.

I must say however i do not like the way the game handles qualifications. It seems to me that when starting a campaign, especially at the beginning of the war, a boats Officers and Warrants should be fully qualified in their jobs. There should also be a number of SWOs and at least one CWO per boat, ditto with the Seamen.

SH3Comm and RUB do go part way to address this, but there are still aspects to my mind that could be developed further, such as this crew purchase idea.
