Hi guys
can someone point me to a mod (if there is one - I think there is) which installs the convoy routes on your nav map (ie. the convoy routes per the fold-out map we get as part of the DVD of SHIII). This makes it so much easier to go hunting.
In addition, what is the best sound mod for SHIII? I know there was the incognito stuff, but is there something as good if not better?

Hi The_Pharoah,
The downloads section at http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/ has the Convoy-Route map in 'Silent Hunter 3 Mods (General Section)', the file name is: SH3MapConvoys.zip
Btw this map-mod is very nice but has a tiny mistake. The 4th convoy-route from the top (extending from Halifax, U.S., to England) is supposed to be dotted.
For sounds, might as well check out the 'Silent Hunter 3 Audio Files' DL section at the same place. If you click on the word, 'Modified' above file-date, it will sort all files by date. There are many good sound files! :) I just DL'd a few sound-mods and used the ones I wanted.
If you haven't tried it yet, a good 'overall' sound mod is: 'SHIII_Internal_Life_Mod_v1.2.rar' (13.5MB). It's 10.5 minutes of looped subtle/ambient sounds, 'life aboard a submarine'. It's very laid-back and doesn't interrupt other sounds.

Although it is a good representation of the fold-out Map, the actual convoy Routes are in other places. If you use the 'Spy Sat' mod, you can see where the convoys really travel.
I guess somebody should do a remake of the SH3MapConvoys mod with the real routes, but it takes a bit of the fun out of the game if you know exactly where all the convoys are. I have used the Spy Sat mod some time but uninstalled it because I prefer to be 'surprised' by the position of convoys...

I corrected that problem on the verison that I use....I would post it here but I would like to ask the author's permission first. The only problem is his/her readme contains zero info as to who made it.

Thanks mate
I'm not keen on the spy sat mod - I too like to be surprised (makes all those days of sailing around seeing nothing except heavy squalls all worth it!).

It would be nice to get the corrected map released. Can anyone help identify the original modder?

I noticed the author's name is actually listed in the mod list sticky in this forum as Sheppard. I'll see if I can reach him.
