Hello!
Im a quite newbie in this, but want to try and learn.

I have photoshop 8 CS and I have just opened a tga file in this program.

Now Im stuck :damn:
How do I edit that .tga file? It looks like the .tga file is packed in some way, and my guess is that I have to unpack it in some way to make some edit..or??

Please if someone who is good in this (and I know many are here..) can give me a quick help so I can get started with photoshop and edit som tga files in SH 3.

My first attemt will be to rotate the compass in NSS_Uboat7c_deck in a previous mod so the compass is showing right, Next I'll try to do my own subskin!

One more thing, there are two programs in this; photoshop CS and ImageReady CS. Which one should I use?

Hope to get some help!

How do I edit??
Nobody out there that can help?

Hi!

Your best bet is probably to buy (sorry) a program like Paint Shop that will read .TGA format files and allow you to modify them.

The extractor you are talikng about, is it Timetravellers extractor for extracting tga's from DAT.files?

Sorry for both my english and stupidity for editing tga's, what I mean is when I open a tga file it loks like the pices are packed in the tga file. To make a new hullskin my guess is that you have the full hullpicture and not this puzzle-looking thing in the file.

nope you get the puzzle looking thing in the file. All the base skins are layed out like that. that's the way ubi did the parts of the models vs skins

I used the very old iPhoto Plus 1.01 from 1991. And I didn't have any problems with the TGA-Files when doing my Emblem Mod.
No extracting, no unpacking. You can start with editing TGA's immediately.
Take a look if you can dig "IPhoto Plus 1.01" out somewhere, if not, ask me. :P

yep sorry man thats how the skins are layed out in most game tga's or bitmaps that I've done. Believe me some games are alot worse than sh3's tga layout.

you'll get use to it after a couple skins the thing is to not get discouraged and if you do leave it for a couple days then come back to it refreshed.
